How do I into niche fragrances? I have Molecule 01 and Comme des Garcons 2 Man (not really niche I know).

The only other houses I know about are Le Labo and Etat Libre d'Orange. Any recommendations of particular brands and/or scents?

What's your idea of feminine? The most feminine fragrance I have/am willing to wear is Aqua Universalis Forte, but it smells like the Heavens, and has enough musk in it to push it closer to the unisex point of the spectrum, for me, at least.

>> No.8260143

>>8260097
Generally speaking, I guess the most feminine scents are very sweet, powdery, and/or floral, particularly white florals like jasmine and tuberose. Also more use of non-citrus fruity notes, without much spice, woodiness, earthiness, or musk to temper any of that (not that there aren't woody, spicy, or musky feminine fragrances).

>> No.8260160

>>8260143
I should add, for the most part, gendering fragrances seems pretty pointless. Maybe useful as vague guidelines for the consumer, but there is nothing inappropriate if a guy can pull off a powdery, floral perfume or a woman wearing something smoky and leathery

>> No.8260199

Fragrances are objectively uncool and a total waste of money

Imo being truly "/fa/" is improving yourself to a point where style and actions become natural to you and others can feel that vibe

Fragrances though are one of those things that make it extremely evident that you are TRYING, not BEING cool.

It's the same reason why I think clutches are stupid, because they are sacrificing function for fashion in a rather stupid way and you can see that they are CONSCIOUS of this fact

Or something like mismatched socks, you see someone do it and the first thing that comes into your mind is the person consciously making that decision while dressing themselves

Same goes for fragrance, you smell it and you know that this person consciously bought and sprayed this on themselves in hopes of making themselves more appealing

tldr Fragrances are fucking lame

I love the smell (same may agree that it IS too common), and would like to buy something new and slightly different, but is also as safe and versatile as the L'Homme for both day and night.

Issues I have with the L'Homme is the projection isn't very strong, so would like something a bit stronger in that area. Also I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to be, but the base notes aren't very noticeable at all (they explode when I step into a hot shower though lol, very pleasant smell imo and I really like it).

I layer D&G The One with different ones from Comptoir Sud Pacifique. Something always felt off when I wore The One on it's own, and I almost sold it. After layering it I've gained a new appreciation for it. Give it a shot, just don't over apply.

i've only experimented in layering with a sample of Le Labo Another 13, which is similar to Molecule 01 since it has a lot of ISO Super E in it. seems to work pretty good, especially with very citrusy or floral scents that don't already have a noticeable musky element. adds a depth and creaminess to it. the key imo though is to make sure the ISO Super E doesn't project too much (best kept not much more than a skin scent)

Yeah I tried it with some ADP Colonia, which usually only lasts 3-4 hours, when I sprayed it was Molecule 01 I could still smell the citrus after about 6-8 hours.

you'll also have to buy perfumer's alcohol to dilute it to the proper levels, and latex gloves, pipettes, and shit like that, too. can't let it touch the skin undiluted, same with essential oils

Colonia Intensa > Colonia > Essenza > Colonia Assoluta

They're all pretty good, though definitely lacking in longevity. Their Blu Mediterraneo line is summer friendly, too (I like the Fico di Amalfi, Bergamotto di Calabria, and Mirto di Panarea, most)

>> No.8281990

>>8281717
I can confirm Intensa is definitely the best, lasts the longest out of them all and smells the most summery in my opinion. Great if you're like 20-25, throw on some washed blue jeans, a t-shirt and a couple of sprays of this stuff.

>> No.8282099

>>8281633
The vintage stuff (90s) version is good. Tonka bean and all. You really don't get one note that is more overbearing. It all blends nicely. Has to be the vintage stock though.

Wait, people find Terre D'Hermes a summer scent? I thought it was pretty fall/winter. With the citrus topnotes combined with the very wood basenotes made me smell pine really strongly and the kinda spicy middlenotes had a very holidayish vibe to me. Even if you interpret it as pure citrus it still seems way too heavy for summer use.

>> No.8282772

>>8282761
To me it's more like a late Summer/Fall scent.

Mmm, I guess I can agree with the late summer to fall transition period seeing as the heat is kinda heavier then and it'd work with the sharpness of the citrus.

>Rose 31
Never really got a cumin vibe from it despite reading it coming up a lot. Definitely a blast of rose to being with, and then it dries to something of a vetiver with a tiny floral bit. If that guy really wants a BO-ish scent, Santal 33 and it's hint of dill pickle might be worth looking into as well.

>> No.8282834

>>8282761
i definitely see it more appropriate for late summer/early fall, though i don't think it's out of place for spring/summer, especially in milder places; don't find it too much heavier than concentre d'orange verte tbh

probaby versatile enough for year-round use

>> No.8283017

>>8282811
For me, the cumin in Rose 31 is what gives it the sex sweat kind of smell, and the labdanum might offer a sweeter edge to that particular accord. But, honestly, I really don't pick up on the vetiver in the fragrance.

Santal 33, to me, smells like a fridged winter day, where a chick who's wearing some lightly floral fragrance, and a fleece shirt/jacket that's carrying the odor of a mentholated cigarette. Makes me want to barf.

dreamer's pretty good while the topnotes last, iris lily, lavender, all that, then the floral notes vanish and it's a sticky sweet ashtray for hours

I went on a tour of Cologne a few months ago and they showed us the shop where cologne was first invented. I sampled a few of them including 4711.

Great smelling, clean, classy but certainly not for someone under 30.
