i've been thinking you can cover up and still look summery (not actually summer core, but it's summer wear and a lot of /fa/ is underweight so i'll be posting anyway)

you can get away with "thin looking" jeans (baggy-ass pants look warmer and more fall-wintery... actually pants that cut off inches above the ankle are popular on /fa/ now and would be great for pulling this look of) and long sleeved shirts with an undone sweater or plain dress shirt over AS LONG AS YOU ROLL BOTH SHIRT'S SLEEVES UP. try to get wide necked shirts.

if you do this look wrong you'll look out-of-place or like you're trying to hard to cover up, self-conscious or simply unadaptive. because you're skinny you can pull off the "quiet intellectual" thing pretty well but if you do that you need to make it LOOK LIKE you're also keeping cool. roll up the sleeves and anything else that makes an otherwise standard outfit look fit for the heat. wide necks, thin fabrics, short pants, if you're a guy this'll look fucking stupid with a neatly parted haircut, you need it short-ish and at least somewhat purposely messy. most importantly to not looking like you're too hot is not to be too hot. if you just plain don't get hot that's cool but otherwise you need thin fabric, also deodorant, and when possible shade and cold drinks if you're going to be out outside and in public for awhile.

i'm p sure this was the same look provided in a spring/summer way (long warm cabin hair => short summer hair, long jacket => rolled-sleeve sweater, pants => shorts)

it's not summer-core but it is summer related. if you're into this style the picture on the right is pretty much the only way to convert it into a summer theme, and god knows some regions are cold enough that that picture is the closest you can reasonably get to summer-core.

the whole psudo-nautical (like sailors in old cartoons) thing did start coming into fashion in fall of 2011 remember? or was it 2012? i think this is a really nice integration of it into other trends, though the style of that long coat makes the nautical theme pretty flashy and obvious (too obvious for me to wear) but that's not necessarily bad I think. the socks in the second pic tho. it does relate to the sailor theme but i don't think thick cotton socks are an aspect of deckhand apparel that rode that trend into style. to someone not-to-concerned with fashion all of the right pic would look pretty normal and (to them, inexplicably) fashionable, but the big socks with shorts are still big socks with shorts.

i dumped the majority of the images. i live in southern Florida where the weather fluctuates between 75 and 110 degrees Farenheit (not including humidity) every year from March thru September. I definitely don't want to copy any of these pics. I like different things about them tho and the idea of reinventing different concepts that they each present (silhouette, color, certain pieces), etc. Most people can throw on a fitting shirt, shorts and shoes and that's their summer fit. The idea is to push the boundaries of what you normally wear, without dipping into excessive. Obviously comfort comes first and foremost.

one thing i realized about 'gothninja' was that it makes incredible sense as a summer outfit. you wear one or two viscose/linen/cotton shirts, and big ol pod shorts. By covering more skin with the thin layers you're less at risk of burning than dudes with tanks and shorts, plus the thin material allows for more ventilation and mobility.
rethink your preconceptions, inspiration doesn't have to be literal and found at face value.
