I have this barbour x to ki jacket, which I bought when my style was more classic/preppy (I'm from the UK so it wasn't the american style prep, bit more 'country' looking).

I'm getting more into streetwear now but I think it's pretty dope, can I work it into my fits well enough or will it just not go with streetwear clothing?

I think you could find some way to work a Barbour jacket into a streetwear fit - I've definitely seen people wearing them with sneakers and jeans, just not super technical stuff.

Even if you don't want it now, hang onto it. Definitely a timeless piece imo - you'll be using it in the future at some point

Related question but with the opposite problem.

I want to get this bomber jacket but I'm not sure if i could get it to work in anything other than streetwear fits. What do you guys think?

oops, here's the jacket

Guys don't confine yourself to these categorisations. Try different combinations of clothes, if it looks good in the mirror and you know it does, then trust yourself and wear it.

You don't have to be 100% streetwear, techwear, normcore or whatever the new internet buzzword is next week.

I can't tell if this is one of those really shiny bombers like the ones from Alpha Industries or the Uniqlo one from last year. If it's not, then it'd go perfectly well with jeans, chinos, boots and a button up oxford shirt (probably in blue or grey).

It's fairly shiny, that's why I'm unsure

honestly, once you "live with" a barbour jacket for a week you regret them pretty fast

you look homeless
you smell like wet dog

and if you wear it while shooting you look like you're playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R

I'd say buy a matte one that is a bit more versatile. Keep in mind that grey or navy blue will work with more things too.

I wear mine all the time. It's fine you can wear it with anything, NBs or whatever. In the UK loads of people do it, some people wear them "ironically".

Hmm, got a point there. However I've already got a blue field jacket and varsity jacket (without contrast sleeves) so this bomber jacket would be a nice expansion in a new direction since the previous two pieces aren't particularly streety.

I'm thinking of getting this colour or black though, I think two navy jackets is enough. But yeah, thoughts on the green, I reckon it could work with a lot of stuff.

Yeah looks like a standard Bedale to me too. A lot of the other models are longer.

Pockets just looked sagged around. Most likely from filling them with grouse so many times.

thanks. he did say it was a barbour oil coat.
and what do u mean by grouse?

>> No.8060241

Grouse is a bird that you hunt

>> No.8060255

>>8060241
oh, i knew that but i thought you were referring to some chemical technique he used on the jacket to make it look the way it does

Grouse is a type of game bird that is regularly shot by country folk in Britain.

The pockets in the Bedale actually have two small drainage holes in the bottom to stop the blood from game collecting.

Barbour jackets are designed for rural people usually into hunting but have been adapted or "culturally re-appropriated" by urban dwellers.
