What's your take on this one /fa? Do you prefer minimalistic/technical machine-produced clothing (futuristic/minimalistic/postmodern styles - rick, raf, modern fabriques, sneakers, everything sportish-wear etc.) over hand-made traditional stuff with a history behind it (leather goods, raw japanese denim, boots/shoes, shirts, semi-formal stuff). I feel like I have to decide between these two but I actually can't, I need some justification for it.

amalgamate them both
u can do it anon~

I don't think it's possible, they are contradicting each other, and a man gotta keep integrity.

Both.

For example, pick nice monochrome stuff made out of time honoured materials. Black denim, black boots, grey jumper, black bomber. Make sure it fits the way you want, e.g buy a longer leg for siqstax. Then make a boss monochrome fit with it.

In this case, the colours and silhouette are minimalistic, the fabric is traditional.

that dichotomy doesn't exist.

it still will be a modernistic outfit.

Leather boots, jeans and bombers aren't modern. You just make sure the silhouette is. You could buy the same clothes in the 50s.

that is a false dichotomy, and if you associate any of those trad items w the "non-machine made" label you are a complete idiot

the premise in general just stinks of college freshman

I think OP just had a hard time putting it into words.

People are more likely to call you a hipster if you dress in a post-modern way, because that's what's trending. But if you wear "semi-formal", I assume it's emulating "authentic masculinity" and avoids any insecurity or loss of dignity if you look ridiculous/out of place in futuristic geometrical clothing.

I meant another thing. Kinda like a romantic lifeview vs a rationalistic lifeview

So, you're concerned with the authenticity aspect?

Why don't you just quit the vapid bullshit and wear whatever you want? It's clothing, man.

And besides, if you wear what you like, then you're more likely to meet people with similar taste. That beats pretending, being dressed up in a "rationalistic" outfit with your "rationalistic" group of friends.

Kinda. That's because the problem exists in my mindset, not just about clothing but about everything, including "the people that I want to meet". Sometimes I go full rational, work out every day, read all that scientific stuff, eat healthy, read on my kindle and fully immerse into minimalistic techno, and I dress minimalisticly in blacks and grays. Other days I kinda start feeling some sort of a void, start smoking and drinking, reading paperbacks, hanging out in bars, watching movies and dressing in untucked shirts and cherry brogues etc. But balancing these two is tough.
