Maybe something like barbed wire around your wrist that tightens over time, maybe because it was dipped in some certain material and it'll tighten over the course of 80 years.

Seriously? LVR alone carries 101 leather outerwear styles. Even a run of the mill department store like Bloomingdales has 41 (out of 238, 17%) of all their outerwear online is leather or shearling. Acne Studios routinely releases two or three leather jackets in several colorways each season and BLK DNM offers leather jackets in at least three cuts year round.

>>8062956

I don't know how much more common you can get than a style that everybody already knows and most people either have or want to attain. The reason why there's so much faux leather and coated cotton at stores like H&M and Zara is because those customers already are aware of and want leather goods and garments, but they can't buy them. H&M's US online store has 37 jackets, 10 of which (27%) are either leather, faux-leather, or have (faux) leather trim. I just don't get what you mean by them becoming more common when more than a fourth of all the jackets that one of the world's largest retailers offers is leather or leather-like.

I think the things being done by Abasi Rosborough will catch on, they're advancing tailoring in the right ways.

/fa/scist will probably have some evidence that what I'm about to say is stupid but I'll give it a shot anyway.

Many attempts have been made to "modernize" the suit over the years, but I feel like many of the attempts end up just adding some aspects of a temporary style into the suit making it look dated and almost costume-like 5-10 years down the line. I think the way Abasi Rosborough is tackling the problem is minimally invasive enough to be something that will take off, and also not die off as some trendy thing. It feels to me like reinvention without sacrificing tradition which is difficult to successfully do.

I'm not saying everything Abasi Rosborough has going on will take off, or that all of it is entirely new, but things like knit panels in high movement areas of the garment for increased mobility with minimal impact to the aesthetic or structural aspects of the garment would seem to be something that will become cheaper to do on more mass produced items as understanding grows of the best ways to do it.

The general sense I get from looking at their collections and what sets them apart from everyone else is like if a tech-wear designer fell back in love with classic menswear but wasn't allowed to use any technical fabrics anymore and then damir doma came along and sprinkled traces of his seed all over the designer's dreams.

I'm hopeful like you, but lots of people have been pushing "modern" tailoring and I think outside of certain Japanese brands, it's had a tough time catching on. Posthuman Wardrobe's been at it for a while and they're super niche still. Aitor's another good example, but his reputation has done a lot and that's not something every brand has.

We can all cross our fingers, though.

vaporwave is a music genre wherein the artists release music anonymously or pseudonymously to the point that most are totally unknown (and unseen)
i get what you mean when you say some article of clothing looks vaporwave, but it starts to change what that word means. if one wanted to 'look vaporwave' it'd probably involve a lot of thrifting and repurposing.

Comme Comme always looks cooler than I think it really works out, except the simpler styles. I frankly think the other women's lines are stronger, and if you want simple styles, I think BLACK is easier. I dunno, I don't see that much Comme Comme around.

Okay, it's kind of an exaggeration, time-wise. But have you seen what happens to leather after a few decades when you don't take care of it?
