Really? That's weird
Anyway if you're after the mies, smarter to proxy from japan, or, perhaps smarter still, find some sap in the visvim community sales thread who is selling it.
>>8022495
Also, not Kapital but there's a guy based in japan that does boro-style repairs on classic denim garments, sometimes puts them up on etsy, much cheaper than Kountry as well
http://bandannawanderings.tumblr.com/
>>8022499
To be honest I think Augusta's prices are more reasonable compared to Visvim, most of Simone's work is done by himself or at least in-atelier, it's definitely very artisanal production, whereas Hiroki has everything done by various factories around asia, mostly in China (for the footwear)
>>8022512
This applies far more for Augusta, and most of the Continues family than for Visvim.

Also this might not be O Project, my mistake, but Laurini was definitely involved in its conception

yea it's price gouging
at least augusta can actually justify pricing off the strength of craftsmanship, visvim is pretty dubious.

either way the rate at which augusta pricing has doubled and quadrupled over the years is pretty disgusting, but I don't really hate him for it. simone will sell his craft at what people are willing to pay.

I can't see that coat going for over $800 if it was sold by a more mainstream lux brand

It's gonna be out of my budget for quite a while (unless I get this job im interviewing for B)), so I'm hoping they pop up for sale on Rakuten/sufu or something by then. If not proxying does look substantially cheaper, but still would be like twice what I've ever paid for anything clothes related

I don't know about Augusta so I'll be quiet on that front, and I agree Visvim prices are pretty ridiculous, but their craftsmanship isn't that bad.

>>8022542
I mean dying with cochineal is hardly a new idea - the brain dyes were far more work intensive, but I think the brain dye elmendorf retailed at close to $20k? Yeah, natural dyes are cool and all but there's a miscellany of producers using them, from Geoffrey B Small to Guidi, I don't think Hiroki is a real innovator in that, he's just applying it to his own twisted Ameri-Kaji vision.
That aside, Visvim is really ridiculous, and for a company that straddles the line between Streetwear and heritage-wear/reproduction with mass factory production, their prices are pretty shocking.
Also Tabis really are uncomfortable, at least those particular iteration were, I can hardly imagine walking around all day in them.
>>8022576

I guess you are right there. I think the FBT's are probably the most overpriced thing in fashion right now, quality is ridiculous. Visvim leathers are always high priced, I had my eye on that varsity from this season but at 2k I gave it a pass. Ah, that's disappointing to hear about the Tabis; I assumed they'd be like the Nike Air Rifts comfort wise. What makes them uncomfortable? Is the seperate toe too small or something?

I just copped regular brown Michael's from Paraboot. I was tempted to go for the ones with fur along the toebox but not yet. I original wanted to cop a pair because the sole on my beloved Wallabees is coming away and I was going to get them resoled with a big, beefy sole, but the price my cobbler charged was pretty high so I thought whatever. I'd been eyeing them for a while and a pair popped up on Insta a few days ago so I thought fuck it

The indentation that divided the toes was too deep, meaning it kind of dug into the cleavage of my toes which made it kind of uncomfortable to walk. Plus I just find that the divided toes is relatively uncomfortable in general, I'd even turn down a pair of Margielas. Perhaps that was just a personal sizing issue though
Oh nice, the Michael is perhaps one of the best iterations of a tylorean hiking shoe I've seen - if you're after ones with fur, I believe Hender Scheme put out a rabbit fur iteration that were quite nice.

I've lashed out at Visvim quite a lot in the past, and I still believe you can get better and more reasonably priced iterations of almost all the items they reproduce from other manufacturers.
