In the most classic definition, brogues were shoes for hunting and sport, so they still carry pretty casual connotations. That said, the idea of a leather shoe is pretty "dressy" if you're only used to sneakers and jeans. If you feel up to it and it feels natural, then go for it.

it won't be glorious grainy leather, but nubuck (which is still way better than fake plastic leather).
