read literally any tatsuro interview where they ask him a question about MA_.

the garments are lower quality, as they're manufactured with generally cheaper materials in order to fit a lower price point. that's why you see so many more weird blends like rayon/viscose/cotton than in the mainline. that doesn't mean they're ZARA quality, just not at the level of the mainline. it's very obvious when you take, for example, a mainline cotton longsleeve and an MA_ cotton longsleeve and lay them side-by-side (as i just did.) like i said, the difference in quality is important because it allows the pieces to be sold at a lower price point: in other words, they can be stocked in stores that couldn't afford or don't have the customer for something like $1500 jeans, $1200 leather, $300 tees. for example although _7 is stocked almost nowhere in the US, there are quite a few middle and high end streetwear stores that stock MA_ (ODD NY until very recently for example.)

not sure where you got minimal from or the idea that anyone was equating basic to minimal. MA_'s staples and profit-machines are its basics: longsleeves, t-shirts, knits, and simple sweats/trousers, whereas the mainline mostly makes its cash from the more substantial cargo pants/jeans and leathers. of course MA_ also does some outerwear, but the heavier, more substantial, and more detailed pieces always come from the mainline (gasmask, holster jackets, etc.)

lower quality + unisex + bigger focus on basic pieces --> more buyers interested in picking it up --> stocked in more stores --> reaches a wider consumer base than mainline. it's a diffusion

actually, most zara articles of clothing cost around $5-$10 to produce because they use polyester/synthetic fabrics which can be had for pennies a yard and don't pay their workers a living wage. you think about a shirt that uses maybe a square yard whose pattern is machine-cut and takes a worker 3 minutes to sew ... it can come out to even less than $5.

on the other hand, in a factory like olmar + mirta, since (say) the cotton is natural and sourced in Europe it can get up to $20 and $30 a yard, all patterns are hand cut, and the workers are paid a minimum wage, so you can see how the cost of making a garment gets up to $80 or $100. that t-shirt then sells wholesale for $200, a 300% markup, and then the boutiques sell it for $350 on top of that ... but that's still only 350%, versus the zara tee which is selling for $99.90, which is almost a 2000% markup (and will disintegrate within the year.)

if you ever work for a middle or higher-end boutique where you actually are involved in making buys every season then you really start to see how much of a disgusting rip-off fast fashion really is. even brands like alexander wang and theory which are considered lower high-end by most people just literally nauseate me now because i understand how little the garments are actually worth.

zara is fast fashion, therefore it's less valuable as a commodity. it's mass produced, so it holds little value compared to designer clothing. even if all clothes used the same fabrics, the ones that are uniquely designed and tailored specifically to the season of a particular year and marched down a runway will be more valuable. fast fashion would still be fast fashion but with no quality distance between other fast fashion brands.

to add ... what's really funny is that it's almost exactly the opposite of what people think: low-end brands have INFINITELY larger margins than brands whose clothes retail for $2000, $3000. a guidi boot made with $75/yard guidi leather (obviously guidi isn't actually paying for their own leather, but they're paying the costs of sourcing/producing it; guidi leather used by brands like incarnation wholesales for much more) might take close to 100 manhours to finish. say the guidi craftsmen work at minimum wage (they don't and shouldn't) and you are already above $1000 just to make the shoe. brands like CCP, m.a+ actually usually lose money...and the problem is compounded by the fact that the fast fashion business model convinces people that a pair of shoes should cost $30-$50.

>>7929012
nah, the lower quality is what makes the fast fashion model feasible, that and the fact that their customer base will BUY low quality clothes (non-discriminating.) they have to have the huge profit margins.

can you link these interviews?
i don't know how true this is, a lot of early Julius did suiting, jackets, trousers but as the label matured it streamlined into a more dedicated vision (one where those pieces did not have a place).
i think MA_ was an outlet for the pieces that did not fit _7's narrative.
MA_ also has larger sizing to accommodate western demographics so I don't know if it was that they saw MA_ as a lower quality alternative (although i have seen some pretty "frail" pieces too).
It's really just two different markets I think
Texhnolyze or Ergo proxy vs Cowboy bebop.
Kind of like Damir Doma and Silent.
different story in history and birth but similar in appearance and marketing

it's really a cost of productions thing. As the scale of the industry increases the costs of production decrease at an exponential rate.
this also brings a difficulty in communication and management which is often the reason why the "fast fashion" labels fall as somewhere along the line they realised that it would not be feasible to try and manage at such a level where top quality worksmanshop could be secured, so there would be no point in using top fabrics, defaulting to the bare minimum to accomplish in all regards driving this brutal fast fashion cycle.
I'm skipping a few steps but Geoffrey B. Small has a few good writings on the topic.
Having said all this Rick Owens circumvents all this and still churns out top shit.

sorry, by markets I meant consumers, two different types of aesthetic interests.
a diffusion in my eyes is AW and T by AW.
it's the exact same vision but a watered down cheaper version.
MA_ and _7 are two completely different visions although I think MA_'s is a little incomplete while _7's is continually enforced.
MA_ is its own beast, like Silent is its own.

>> No.7929098

>the garments are lower quality, as they're manufactured with generally cheaper materials in order to fit a lower price point.
not my experience
>that's why you see so many more weird blends like rayon/viscose/cotton than in the mainline.
again most of my _7 tees are cotton or rayon, the odd silk blend
>like i said, the difference in quality is important because it allows the pieces to be sold at a lower price point
you could be right about this, i dont keep up with retail prices much, i dont buy things retail. but could this no just be because its womens/unisex? womens versions of mens garments (same materials, same factory, etc.) are often far cheaper
>not sure where you got minimal from or the idea that anyone was equating basic to minimal. MA_'s staples and profit-machines are its basics: longsleeves, t-shirts, knits, and simple sweats/trousers, whereas the mainline mostly makes its cash from the more substantial cargo pants/jeans and leathers. of course MA_ also does some outerwear, but the heavier, more substantial, and more detailed pieces always come from the mainline (gasmask, holster jackets, etc.)
this doesnt say diffusion line to me, selling different pieces makes it a different line. selling lower quality versions of _7 pieces would make it a diffusion line, but like you said, its different

>> No.7929104

To add...
>>7929092
Mainline Julius doesn't show Womenswear in Paris for financial reasons (a whole nother show and contractors to feed). The mainline used to do smaller sizes (for womens i presume,I have some in my wardrobe) but it didn't really fit the vision/didn't pay the bill.
Regardless, a lot of the pieces still fit women.
What important points?

you need jeans that are looser in the thigh and tighter in the calf. those make ur thighs look hella grily

>> No.7930888

Why would you do that with your body
I mean you can't look like this without reason

Would look pretty ok with chinos or slim jeans. Even better with good shoes. Actually good with a nice shirt.

I love everything individually, but without a full body pic to check proportions it's hard to tell if the sweater is too tight or not. You look pretty skinny so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

/fa/ I need advice on how to stop being a fuccboi. It's kind of hard to do when you're a poorfag though. Pic is me

>> No.7932510

>>7932488
read the sticky, lurk /fa/ and other forums and learn. crawl before you walk
shirt is ugly and ill-fitting. lose some weight, button shirts up all the way. That one is an ugly color and dumb pattern though, get rid of it. Pants don't fit well. Looks like they're too long. Roll them or even better, get nicer pants
Shoes are terribad. Get black chucks or vans if you're that poor. get a job and start saving for quality pieces. Go to Superfuture and Styleforum and start reading threads like waywt, inspiration threads, clothes and fits for beginners, etc. etc.
finally, be patient and willing to learn

>> No.7932511

>>7932488

your shirt appears to fit okay, but it looks horribly cheap and it's ugly for notable reasons (wrinkled fabric, spread collar, breast pockets, the color)

your chinos fit okay, but with a fit as straight as that, there should be only one break/no stacks. you could also opt for a more tapered fit

shoes look very cheap but they're inoffensive

your glasses are also an issue

fundamentally, you aren't doing too bad though. don't sweat it and lurk

>> No.7932521

>>7932511
Man I get everything else but what's wrong with the glasses? Also what do you mean one break/no stacks?

>> No.7932525

>>7932488
Shirt is bad, glasses are bad. Bottom half looks okay~. I prefer solid color button downs bt that's just me, don't get ugly patterns like that. Uniqlo may be your friend if you're going for that look.

>> No.7932540

>>7932525
Thanks. Yeah the shirt is kind of my father's and I didn't really have another one to wear at the time. But can someone please tell me what's wrong with the glasses? This is one criticism I did not expect

>> No.7932549

>>7932540

The white handles on your frames look terribad. I'm sure there's a guide for face shape and glasses somewhere, you can never go wrong with all black wayfarers.

>> No.7932560

>>7932549
Thanks I'll try and search around for a guide like that. Man I really expected my outfit to be torn apart but glasses I did not expect :( - btw they're prescription. I mostly wear contacts most days though. Would that be better?

>> No.7932569

>>7932560
Whatever you prefer, as far as glasses go I hear you can get really cheap frames online, just know your eyesight number/prescription/whatever and you can order it for like $20~. Forgot where though if anyone wants to chime in.
