I like this shoe but I don't like paying $1200 for some leather I won't want to wear in 3 years or so. Is there a cheaper alternative for the same style?

How come every fit featuring Dunks looks nice and distressed but every fit featuring the black & white Geobasket looks like stiff garbage? Are they hard to distress? Are people passing off fakes as real or do people just not wear them outside their apartments? I've seen Geobaskets in that color beat up but never in a fit. What the fuck is going on?

Dunks are geos.

Though that's going to get even more confusing, as Rick released some minimalist high top with Vicious that are actually called Dunks.

I never understand this mentality. Why would anyone buy someone's used sneakers? Even if they cost $1k new, you're still buying used sneakers with all the footsweat and toe fungus that comes with it.

If they're leather lined that helps.
If it's cloth lined then yeah, full of shit you can't clean out.
Leather linings you can clean better.
But stil, you run the risk of warts and fuck knows what else buying some stinky old shoes

>>7917299
Man, I'm seeing a lot of compromising in this post. Couldn't get Common Projects, so you got a sneaker that's "basically" the same. Couldn't get new, so you got used. Are you sure you're so happy with that purchase?

And I'm not against vintage or thrifting with most other articles of clothing. But why would you cop items that spend all day sitting next to the sweatiest part of the human body with little ventilation? Personally, I wouldn't do it for the same reason that I wouldn't buy used underwear.

>Even then, the footbed's molded to someone else's shape.
That's true.
Any one of the many reasons I steer clear of used shoes with any sort of wear at all.

It's okay if it's a "catch and release" jobbie, where the original buyer bought a shoe, realised it was the wrong size and sold it on without putting any substantial foot-time in them, and it's another matter entirely where some stink-foot faggot's worn the shoes day-in, day-out for a month+ before selling them to some thirsty, desperate poorfag.

>> No.7917486

>>7917331

I'm happy getting something that's comparable to CPs for less than 1/4 of the price without sacrificing too much in terms of quality and aesthetics.

More money 4 grailz.

I don't disagree with this at all. I copped a pair of "worn for a day" balmoral boots because I figured they had seen roughly the same amount of wear as a showroom pair (verified by the fact that the leather soles showed next-to-nil scuffing). Such wear is negligible. Though I wouldn't trust an ebay seller; I'd want to see the shoes in person first.
>>7917486
It's good to be thrifty. That said, if you want an all-white lowtop, pic related was $30CAD with promo code on gravitypope last week. You could just get something like that for next-to-nothing, then pinch your pennies for the CPs you really want. All without running the risks associated with wearing someone's old trainers.

>> No.7917671

>>7916886
Why do you want to be convinced you like them. If you don't like them that's it. Quit being such a fuccboi about it.

>> No.7917688

>>7917652

Well, it wasn't like I even wanted CPs in particular. I just needed a white pair of trai ers for summer, so I don't consider it a compromise. I would've just copped Stan Smiths if I hadn't found the OL sneakers.

I get what you're saying tho. Used footwear is risky. So far no problems tho.

Socks will prevent sweat and infection from sinking into a shoe? Even if they did, you're staking a lot on what you believe are the habits of "fashion conscious people."
Lemme know what magical cleaning process prevents an entrenched footbed from realigning the tiny and sensitive bones in your feet.
>>7917688
I'm glad you like them, and probably nothing bad will happen as a result. Just saying that personally I can't justify the risk of buying used footwear.

the sweat's still stagnant in there because most people don't rotate their footwear, allowing a day or two for a recently worn pair to dry before wearing again.
