>And fedora of course
>Quit that shit last year
>Started dressing casual; jeans, trainers etc

The thing is I have a couple of quite expensive (£85) Gant shirts that I don't really want to throw away. Is wearing a tucked out shirt with jeans and trainers acceptable? Pic is the shirt.

tl;dr how do I wear shirts without looking dadcore or worse, euphoric?

that shirt could work for spring, pair it with some tailored shorts or chinos

>> No.7906059

just wear it casually. Untucked with a pair of well fitting khakis/jeans or shorts w/e

>quite expensive
>GANT

regardless, just wear them untucked, with the sleeves rolled

Ok cool, but what shoes? Desert boots? Trainers? Timberlands?

desert boots or loafers(or boat shoes or car shoes)

In the UK Gant, Ralph Lauren etc is pricey stuff. I know it's cheap in the US though.

>> No.7906106

>>7906095
it's about the same price here (85 gbp are about 150 usd, gant shirts go for 170+)

although maybe considering the average ppp, stuff might be cheaper here, but i really doubt that is the case

Oh isit? I heard it was cheaper. Oh well there goes my New York shopping trip plan.

levi's is a lot cheaper for instance for sure

if you're coming to new york, youre not going to be saving

state and municipal tax are killer, the food is overpriced, all services are shitty, hotels are always in demand, and everything is expensive because the city is filled with (comparatively) rich people with too little time and too much stress

believe me, i live here

Yeah I heard Levi's are way cheaper in the States.

I was just going to go for a day to buy as much cheap designer gear a possible. Is that still not worth it?

>> No.7906159

>>7906145
the variety makes it worth it, but again you must follow the principle that no self-respecting man pays retail

unless of course you either get access to a sample sale or come at that magical time of the year when stores are switching from either a/w to s/s or vice-versa, in which case it's totally worth it because of said variety coupled with good to okay prices

Ok cool, thanks for the info.

OP, since you were at one time a fedora-tipper, can you enlighten me on the thought process behind it?

What did you think when you wore those sorts of things? What made you do it? Had you ever seen the anti-fedora shit anywhere and if so, what did you think of it?

I'm just trying to understand the inner workings of one who wears a fedora

Glad you asked. I feel like I should be like those ex-cons who go around schools telling kids why crime doesn't pay
>What did you think when you wore those sorts of things?
I thought that I was a cut above everyone else, I thought I was at the forefront of style, I thought that there was only one way to dress well and that was the traditional way
>What made you do it?
Autism pure and simple. Of course I didn't know that at the time but it was obviously autism. I was an autistic shut in who played with his trainset for most of school, when the time came to ditch school uniform I didn't know wtf to wear and was scared that I'd give out the "wrong" image and get laughed at. Became agoraphobic for a couple years then eventually came out by wearing plain as fuck clothes. Nobody laughed at me so I decided to try "upping my style" by wearing shirts and trousers. My rationale was that a tucked in ironed shirt and trousers is just standard wear that nobody can laugh at but my autistic brain couldn't work out that that is only appropriate for formal situations. The trenchcoat was thrown in as a sad attempt make me look impressive and adult. I was joking about the fedora though, I never wore a fedora. I considered flat caps at one point though. Eventually with student loan money I started getting more expensive clothes to feed my "classy" and "a cut above" delusions until I got bullied out of university and realized that all this euphoric gear was hindering and not helping. Made me go broke as well.
>Had you ever seen the anti-fedora shit anywhere
Yes I did towards the end of my fedora'd days but I convinced myself that I had "got it right" and wasn't like the others. The fact that I never literally wore a fedora helped the delusions. I eventually realized that I was exactly like all the fedoras because I was too autistic to make sense of the apparent randomness of fashion so I started using rigid "safe" rules and generally trying really fucking hard.

Now I'm in full DGAF mode, I just wear jeans paired up with whatever. I only asked about the shirt because the only thing I don't want to look like ever again is a fedora.

>> No.7906272

Dude a button-down shirt is not fedora clothing, that's like normal-person clothing. The one you posted is boring and safe. Don't care for the branding though.

>> No.7906329

>>7906272
If you wore it tucked in with dad chinos and polished brogues then it would be fedoric.

>> No.7906347

you're still a fedora based on your fucking comments

>> No.7906363

What? How am I still a fedora?

>> No.7906366

>>7906329
No, that fit would be "I sell cell phones at the mall and they make me wear a collared shirt and 'dress pants.'"
Also, there's nothing wrong with brogues and if you bother to polish them, you're doing better than 99% of the population.
