better is difficult to determine since this stuff has a tendency to smell differently on different people, depending on the the weather, and even on what they last ate.

as for your choices, they are very mainstream in that they'r ubiquitous mall choices. no problem if they happen to smell good on you, but you'll probably be smelling like many, many other people around you since they are within easy reach and require no thought.

or not, maybe everyone around you stinks anyway, in which case they are "good".

Comme des Garcons Black fragrance:

I tried this (incredibly spicy) fragrance the other day, and the first impression i got was that it was waaay to powerful, like I'd sprayed on me some sort of garam masala x pepper grinder concoction.

But as the day went by, I really came to love the fragrance. At the end of it, it was so alluring, literally mouthwatering.

I'm really considering getting it, but now I'm having doubts as to whether people will think I just ate in an Indian restaurant when I use it.

Also, it's one of the longest lasting fragrances I've ever tried on. Lasted me a day and a half on my coat.

Anyone tried/have it? What do you think?

Best way I can describe the smell is like a dark old leather jacket.

What Picasso is to art.

It's mature, rugged, enigmatic, and masculine.

Experts of the fragrance game will respect it as a classic and possibly entry-level masculine fragrance.

People who've been in the fragrance game a decent amount of time will try to hate on it to appear knowledgeable or tasteful - pay them no mind.

Those who are unaware or unsuspecting of such a scent to exist will become aroused by it at a whiff and they will love it. Alternatively they will cover their noses and turn their heads in distaste only to realize that it's quite bearable the next day. Then to realize they quite like it the following day. >Creed Virgin Island Water

This fragrance has been high on my test list for the hype it gets and for the generally positive reviews with performance issues being the main drawback.

First applied you get a huge blast of lime followed by coconut moments after. Very natural, and indeed a tropical bliss. One of the greatest openings I've experienced on a summery scent. Fresh, tropical, and beachy.

The opening is my favorite part, but for about the 20 minutes that it lasts the inevitable drydown follows..

The lime settles a bit, and you begin detecting the rum note infused with the coconut, and I'm guessing the sugar cane note follows. What I get here is a sweet & purply smell reminiscent of the beverage Pina Colada with a touch of lime. The fragrance stays this way all the way through.

Unfortunately I can't say I'm a very big fan of the drydown, but the top notes are what made me love the fragrance.

Performance:

Longevity is excellent. Definitely enough for me. Over 10+ hours.

Projection is again, excellent. I am indeed very lucky to be able to get more than 6 feet of continuous projection for hours on end. No lotion, only 4 sprays straight to skin. Seems to work beautifully for my chemistry. Shocking.

Overall I think it is an excellent tropical & summery fragrance. I do wish the opening notes last forever, as it would have been the perfect scent for me.

Creed has done it again with the quality of the notes used. I do suggest everyone sample it first before making a committed purchase but it's mainly due to the performance issues a lot of people seem to get.

I apologize if our tastes are so different. I just couldn't imagine anyone with more than two brain cells liking such drivel, but I am often disappointed in people on the whole.

PS I can guarantee that my taste in film and music is vastly superior to yours.

I also like how you throw your argument out and then counter yourself at the end saying it's fedora shit because you want to dissuade me from arguing back. So scared of what I have to say because you're so insecure about your tastes that you have to diss on entry-level shit to feel superior.

This is a board about fashion, which, if I'm not entirely unfamiliar with, is often about "small details." The fact that your examples of entry level were so terrible to begin with turns people away from the fragrance. You bring down the brand with your stupidity, like seeing a fat person wearing a Heidi Slimane suit.

and, "PS (sic)" you can't guarantee that your taste is better than that of someone else. I attacked your examples because they were entirely unnecessary, and poor IMO. The great thing about fighting over matters of taste is, I know that I'm right, just as you know you are.

Really though, I am. Structure your argument better next time, try not to get too angry on your side of the screen kiddo. :)

Its pretty nice. I dont think I would pay retail for it(although I wouldnt mind having the bottle in my collection)but I might get in on a split for it when I have some more money... For me basically the beginning is kinda like a rich and more manly actually CK one shock. But istead of a red cherry fizzy pop, and pepper with a bit of chocolate. This is like like very spicey dried fruit. With probably the best cinanmon ive ever smelled, that lead to some cherry in the back ground, with only a hint of tobacco. I get no vanilla at the top it lasts for 3 hours good projection..

Then I get a black and mild for another 2-3 hours. And it smells very similar to double vanille know because of it.The vanilla is just starting to come out and there is some cherry still. Its crazy to me ive seen no review compare either of these to black and mild because the smell is very similar. I assume its because people that actually buy bottles of this are rich and actually buy real cigars...

Finally the dry down is another few hours of just your regular any old vanilla from a vanilla frag. Its nothing amazing to me vanilla wise myself. But I like a lot of vanilla stuff so maybe thats why.

What >>7909258 said to though.... VIW on my skin is very strong lemons/lime. Through out the fragrance. I barely get any coconut, or sugar till the end. And also not a joke when people say that VIW smells like bath and bodys coconut lime breeze it really does trust me. Its shocking how similar these are. At least with teh batch of VIW I have.

Creed was turned into a trollmeme here for awhile, so people stopped bringing it up because it was seen as trollbate.

This, paired with trollshits coming in and shitting up most fragrance threads transitioned the threads into brofesting.

I'd also never consider Creed niche, or very outstanding, and this is coming from someone with quite a bit of creed. My go to right now is either a Tauer or MDCI scent, although both are slightly over powering.

I'm searching for a new fragrance for the summer but versatile enough for chilly days too, please help. Here's how I'd describe what I want:

>comforting, cosy but refreshing/relaxed like a summer night. That's important, an overly warm scent is not what I want
>quite intimate: not in your face or really heavy like One Million or whatever, but expresses reassuring intimacy
>not too innovative or complex: light hearted, almost linear but not too bland, something which can't be considered as agressive if not oversprayed
>and of course appealing to females universally, although I'm going for the 16-20 age range, so young females I guess

pls gib recommendations
