No you wouldn't be. I was in the exact same situation as you, astigmatism and intense nearsightedness. They fixed both. I never have to wear sunglasses anywhere and I don't suffer from dry eyes.

The surgery is unpleasant but they give you some sort of extremely potent relaxant and you don't feel a thing, and it's over within 5 minutes. The only unpleasant part is looking at a bright light (the laser) while it cuts up your eyes, and for a couple seconds you can't see at all. Then it goes away, recovery takes a day or two and you have perfect vision for the next 20 years barring any unforeseen conditions.
