That doesn't look good to me. the face isn't big enough to pull off that chronograph and overall it looks way too chunky. I think most Seiko divers apart form the monsters are butt ugly. Nah, it's just the Seiko Monsters that are butt ugly. That being said, I own one myself. I really like the thing despite the design. If Hummer would design a watch it would look like this. Yes and no. It has solid pins but they can be removed pushing from one side (and not the other)

My strap broke and I replaced that with a 18mm NATO. It has to be thin and it won't pass thru the pins, so once everything is in place it's not easy to exchange straps.

They're prone to shattering. Given your history of watch destruction, I would suggest getting a mineral crystal. They're a bit less scratch proof, but not that much, and they're tough to crack.

If you look at the better Seiko pieces, they use Hardlex. It's a proprietary material that is in-between sapphire and mineral crystal. It's a mixture of barium and silicon, which is more scratch resistant than ordinary mineral glass, but still not as durable as sapphire.

That "gold" might give you an allergic reaction, though. Best to stay away from cheap chinese crap like that. If you want a cheap "gold" watch, make sure it's PVD coated, it's resistant to scratches and wear, and shouldn't cause any problems on the skin.

It looks aight. When buying an Amphibia, just go the new route instead of getting a used one. You can easily pick one up for $60 to $90.

Protip: the bracelets on the new Vostoks are the worst. Always switch them out with a Watchadoo or a NATO. Traditionally, Russian watches aren't sold in the local market with straps. Straps are seen more as an aftermarket product. Bracelets and straps have only been supplied due to Western demand.

Although the Orient Mako isn't ISO rated, it is still a very capable diver. I just wouldn't take it 200m below sea level. For easy 30 to 40 meter dives, it does the job well. For snorkeling and other watersports, this thing will do the job well. The Pepsi model is by far the best.

The Orient Dolphin is a diver with a very classic design. The bracelet is superior to anything $200 under, sans the Seiko Monster. The end links don't rattle, and the clasp is forged. My mate has a Rolex Submariner and I don't know if it's fake, and I'm too scared to ask if it's genuine and don't know if he'd give me an honest answer. I think he's fairly wealthy, but I'd like to know. Are there any tell tale signs I could look for? He'd let me hold it if I asked.

Fakes have gotten pretty good. The best way to tell is to remove the caseback and look at the movement. This is what a Submariner movement looks like. If there is a plastic movement holder surrounding it, it's a fake.

There are other signs in the case design, but they're much harder to spot. Is there any unaligned text? Is the dial a bit offset? Is the bezel not lined up perfectly with the numbers on the face? Are there any unfinished edges? Are any gold parts dull or discolored? If yes to any of this, it's probably a fake. That, or a defective Rolex, but those aren't nearly as common as fakes.
