Well my new year's resolution is going to be to take pride in my appearance and actually look good rather than just presentable. However since I have already decided this I might as well start now, and since I'm already on 4chan all the time I'll be lurking /fa/ while I wait for faggots to stop shitposting in /k/.

I'm currently reading the sticky, but I want your advice. Not what is in the sticky, but YOUR advice. It may be a rule of thumb that has worked for you, or that little tidbit of info that would have helped you out had you known it sooner.

Help a new/fa/g out.

good fit trumps just about anything else. Dunno your body type, but try to err on slimmer cuts regardless. They tend to look best.
Other than that, just keep browsing /fa/, and develop an eye for what looks good and what doesn't.

Thanks anon. If it helps, I'm fairly short, stocky, with broad, well defined shoulders. If I was scaled up to 5'11 or larger I would look like a football player.

You are new so keep in mind not to dress out of your comfort level and not to dress above the norm. (But with proper judgement you should know when to break these rules.)

It's really hard to throw specific fashion advice, all I can say is that you have to have an aura about you

First step.
Leave /fa/.
Go to styleforum.
Hell go to reddit if you really have to.

This board knows jack shit about fashion. It's a bunch of brand hypebeasts and trendhoppers who can't think for themselves.

"Are fake geos good quality?"
"LOL LEATHER JACKETS ARE FOR AUTISTS!"
"w2c generic black parka in this pic?"
"is x/y/z 'fa?'"

etc

This is the most unhelpful board on 4chan

watch recent interviews featuring Kanye West.

even if you hate him, melanin enriched people and/or his music, you have to admit that dude knows how to properly gas himself up.

If you have wide hip and big butts, starve yourself. If not, don't even wear slim or skinny jeans. Wear regular fit pants.

Also, is there a general verdict on square-toed dress shoes as there is for various other items? I have a pair of square-toed dress shoes that need replacing and I was wondering if I would be safer going with anything else.
