What is the consensus on RW Beckman's?
I'm really interested in the 9014 make, and
would greatly appreciate some second opinions.
Would black Beckman's look good with dark jeans,
as in dark blue or black?

Of these kinds of boots, I've found the wolverine 1000 to be more comfortable. With the becks, imo the only interesting color is the black cherry. Imo, if you're gonna get a black boot, it should be all black (ie. no natural colored, contrasting sole) . That being said, this model would look fine with those pants.

There will bw fuccbois around here that will repeat, unthinkingly, uncomprehendingly, the assertion that these are clown shoes. That being said, if you have large feet and wear very skinny jeans, you might want to try these boots on in person in front of a mirror first. The toe is somewhat bulbous, but that may be something you like. Though these may have originally been some kind of work boot, it they most definitely aren't today, and I think these look better when clean and polished and looked after, unlike the the RW iron ranger, which looks better with some roughing up. Very worn beckmans don't look as nice as the IR. These are as close to a dressy boot as RW get.

Also looking into getting either these Beckmans or the 1000 miles (in brown) and I'm leaning towards the Beckmans just because of the slightly lugged sole - is the 1000 mile's sole useless on anything other than carpet?

I'd mostly be wearing these autumn/winter in everything apart from extreme snow/mud, so having just the slightly lugged sole seems more practical

Not the other dude but I've got a pair of IR's, and the cork sole is fine for just about everything. I live in straya so I can't make any comment on snow, but the only situation you can feel it slip is walking up steep grass hills in the rain.

No, but I find leather soles to be slippery on most carpets. Leather soles, not when totally new obviously, are fine except on things like wet flagstone. They just wear a lot faster than rubber, so if this boot is going to be worn *very heavily then you'll most likely be looking at a resole within a year.

Autumn/winter stick to something rubber/synthetic. You could get the 1k's and have a good cobbler attach a topy or vibram sole protector on the leather soles if you really wanted them over the beckmans.

When in doubt, go for the rubber sole methinks; it will last longer before you need a resole, and you'll be more likely to wear them in shitty weather.

I did. Returned the Beckmans because they were so damn uncomfortable. Walked around the house for 2 weeks in them, but couldnt break them in.

1Ks look dressier than any RWs.
However, I personally think RWs look much cleaner/better-designed/less dadcore
RWs are #workwear whereas 1ks are more dadcore/menswear
I've handled both, and RWs have noticeably higher-quality/cleaner construction/stitching

If you want sleeker/dressier go for 1ks
If you want tougher/workwear go for RWs
