I want to dress prep/smart casual with some workwear influences, if that makes sense. I like warm, cosy colors, slim and classic silhouettes, etc.

How can I execute that well? Anything related to menswear is hard to do without looking tryhard as fuck, I'd like to know what I can do to make it work.

Any recommendations, be it about what I should be aware of or brands I should specifically look at?
Post inspo too.

You're asking for A LOT.

First lets work with what you got.

Judging by the way the photo is taken and the clean tailored look I'm guessing this is burberry prorsum. Sure I'll bump your thread with some clean stuff.

Do let me know if you're digging/not digging any of the stuff I'm posting and ask if you want info on any of it and I'll reply as best as I can.

Thanks for your help.

I'm not willing to dress monochrome, I like black when it comes to shoes and coats (peacoats, overcoats, bombers, down jackets) exclusively.

As for the rest, I prefer warm colors (brown, burgundy...). I like some of the stuff on the outfits you posted, however I dislike stuff that doesn't have a slim fit. From shoes to trousers, shirts or outerwear, a slender, sleek silhouette is what I like most.

I suggest looking at Saint Laurent Paris's offerings (SLP for short)

You might like:
Raf Simons (some of his stuff)
Lanvin
Dior
Jil Sander
Balenciaga

Have a look through the works of those and see if there's anything you like man.

P.S Sorry for more monochrome, that's just me heh..

Well, it's about saving up and buying strategically, maybe even buying second hand. You can't just build a wardrobe in a snap, it'll take a couple of years to get there.

>> No.7340829

You need the right face for it, which is something that money can't buy.

Just imagine one of the guys in /soc/ wearing full-on Burberry, it would look ridiculous.

>> No.7340845

Raf , Jil and SLP can help you pull off a "menswear" (fuck we need a better term) without it looking to stifled. Each of the aforementioned designers have managed to amalgamate their own ideologies and well sense of fun and formal , traditional adult aesthetics to create an incredible blend of both sophistication and a laid back self confidence.
Hard to explain really because i'm not very eloquent but look at their past collections and you'll understand the point i'm trying to get across.

>SLP
Isn't their aesthetic mostly black? I like the slim part as everything they do seems tailored for slender frames, but I never saw anything colorful put out by SLP.
>Lanvin
I don't know much about Lanvin. Their sneakers are god tier but that's the only thing I know, so I'll do some research. Would you say they incorporate workwear-like elements into their menswear (be it casual or formal)?
>Jil Sander
Same thing as SLP; isn't it mostly dark?
>Dior
Love the outerwear and shoes. Don't know much about the rest. As long as they don't always rely on black, I'm good.
>Balenciaga
Really nice shirts and coats I think, I like what I saw up to now.

What do you think about the following (some stuff caught my eye, mostly formal wear):
>Tom Ford
>Etro
>Prorsum
>Loro Piana
>Brioni

I can splurge quite a lot on clothes.
>>7340829
The right face? Could you elaborate?
I have a very dark face (hair, eyes, eyebrows, very sharp nose) which is why I want to make it contrast with warmer colors which I think fit me better.

>>7340845
Well, I'm just worried about the colors. The cuts, especially SLP's, are perfect.

>worried about the colours
It's not the colours you want to worry about , it's the prints and textures imo.
Anyone can build a nice palette and know what goes with what but to successfully blend textures and prints is a whole different story. That , coupled with blending contemporary prints and patterns with , as previously mentioned , traditionally stifled views on #menswear is imo the best bit about fashion and I think those designers do it best.
But yeah those designers don't exclusively make black clothes you silly goose.
