I have an almost daily fight with myself over my hair
it's around shoulder length now
some days it's fucking phenomenal and I look amazing
other days it's awful and I want to just chop it all off
I have a fairly wide face though so short hair doesn't really suit me

nothing feels better than sitting there running your hands through your hair though

My main obstacles have been work and sport. Very few places will hire a dude with long hair when they can have someone with short. It's a silly prejudice but it's there, and I sort of get why they do it. I'm only 18 so the place I'm at (which has always been cool with my long hair) is pretty shit hours, so I need another job. I do casual work at this fancy department store and I obviously can't be caveman there, so I cut it. Every time it gets to a respectable length, I get another offer there. And I just can't seem to find a solid job other than that. Also, I play tennis, basketball and do judo. Long hair's a bitch for judo cos it gets caught in grappling and I can't make a bun that'll withstand, but for tennis and basketball it was always that in between stage where I couldn't tie it up but it'd still go in my eyes. Yeah, that's my life story. Not really interesting but not having my hair is actually a source of sadness for me often as fuck

Came here to see what /fa/'s opinion was on long hair since I have very similar hair to you, just a few inches longer and wavier but otherwise the same, and just came back from visiting family and everyone kept saying to cut it. Yeah that's the good and bad thing about it. I've spent about 3 years growing it out down past my shoulder blades so I'm really apprehensive about cutting it since it was a bitch to grow out. But I never tan so I'm about as pale as OP and am always worried I look like a shut-in or something with such long hair despite being pretty fit. Any suggestions for a haircut for my friend? I've been begging him to consider something new after having the same haircut for 20 years and he finally said he would after some of his facial injuries heal (swimming accident). I have pretty straight hair and It takes practice.
Put your hair in a high ponytail, than twist your hair like the 3rd pic, it should start to make a bun shape. Then either bobby-pin it down or put a hair tie on it, I prefer bobby-pins since it's easier to style in my opinion.
Also it's usually easier to style a day or two after washing your hair.
