Been thinking of trying out a fit inspired by this kind of look from Star Wars, but in a much darker mostly gray pallete. Looking for pieces currently.

Semi-related, but I really enjoy how the costume design plays with combinations of really rough natural fabric and more sleek synthetics.

These look way different from mine - are you sure they're real Prps? There was no poor whiskering in the pair I bought from traffic LA at all. I'd post the fit but that guy flaming me in the WAYWT already did - http://fuuka.warosu.org/data/fa/img/0070/18/1381004423701.jpg

Only actual whiskery type effect were a few preset creases that disappeared relatively quick.

There are apparently a bunch of fake Prps floating around the web right now and some company in china that specializes in faking Prps exclusively - they call themselves Prps workshop.

here's a recent fit that is vaguely spacey (mainly because of the shoes and tripod hanging off my backpack)

btw i'm the tanfit and white jacket fit anon. i feel like i should start namefagging or something

needs some work but you are on the right track, i dont like vests in general so i think that's something you need to rethink but thats me. i think it could work if it was paired with a shirt closer to its color, or a more interesting shirt that is spacey in itself. also i think you should try to get the pants to fold/stuff more naturally, stuff them in there and then do some squats/sit down/ move around so they fall into a natural rest state. nice palette and blocking

wearing the warriors like that is so comfy.

Don't be. Ripping off people is unavoidable. That's how fashion works; it's a constructive process: taking others' ideas and expanding them further.

It's only bad if you adopt the mindset that ripping off someone's clothing will make you become that person. Wear clothes as yourself and you can't go wrong.

>> No.7026869

Was looking at these in flight club the other day, for this very reason. I think the swoosh is on velcro and can be taken off, as can the circular Nike patch on the tongue.
You take your patches off when you're not on duty, so I think the empty strip of fuzzy velcro works. To me, it also evokes the heavy use of velcro in current orbital habitats.
The numbers and stenciling are a nice touch and I think the palette is on point. Just make sure to get those patches off.
I would wear the shoe open, with hidden knots preventing the laces from slipping. Either that or fully laced with a bloused pant on top (pinroll or drawstring, your choice).
I think the smart way to style it would be in a tactical but still playful streetwear oriented fit. Those green Supreme flight pants would work nice on top, IMO.

To me Laika represents space exploration in summation. She's a lovely concept and story of almost tragedy, but she's not just a story.

I've always loved the idea of spaceships, astronauts, scifi, etc, ever since I was young as I'm sure most kids did and as I grew up that never really went away. It did however become tempered. When you look at the cost, in human and animal lives, or in the rare metals mined somewhere in Africa by kids, or whatever else you want to look at, it seems so pointless.

We're trying to run away from our problems but only ending up creating more.

Sorry if that was disjointed, it's pretty late here and I woke up early.

Leather is easy to justify: most synthetic fibers are made from petroleum, which is going to have to be used for a lot more important stuff than nylon jackets and is a lot less renewable than cattle or kangaroos.

Every human endeavor of any kind has a high cost in human lives and rare metals mined somewhere in Africa by kids. Space exploration is no different.

You can accept that as the terms for doing good and great stuff in the world and work to minimize the damage, or you can just withdraw and do nothing.

And actually, wait a second, how many people *have* died in space exploration? Quick Wiki has 18 dying in space and 11 in training, the first in '61. I can't think of many things with a lower death toll than that.

Cut from an outstandingly dense weave of 53% cotton and 47% nylon, this is our annual homage to the no-nonsense work pant. This time around, our design challenge was how to increase storage options without sacrificing the minimal form of the trousers. Four low-impact pockets have been added at the knees and shins in response to that objective. We finished the pants in this year's signature shadow camo pattern - a subtle, sinister reworking of a perennial workwear classic.

Basic merino sweater, but the detailing is potentially useful. Also in a charcoal, but I figured I'd post the sole color option just if someone's interested in it.

I don't think they sell air bottom ones, but there's a place in Toronto called Cool East Market that mailorders them.

I got to thinking about the issues that would face a mission that would be without resupply for long periods i.e. a mission to Jupiter. For a small mission, you could get by with everyone carrying years of clothes and using the most durable materials you have. A polyester or nylon shirt could certainly last a few months of nonstop wear before falling apart. Leather, as mentioned, can last more or less indefinitely if well-treated. A leather spacesuit sounds oddly appealing, if somewhat kinky.

For larger missions, though, it would start to make sense to be able to produce clothing onboard, and that means anything with petrochemicals is right out, unless you're advanced enough to be fabbing stuff from basic elements. Growing cotton in the hydro tanks should be easy, however. You're not going to be milling fabric onboard, but machinery for making paper clothing might be doable within a reasonable weight. Wear for a day, recycle a few times, then feed the cellulose to the plankton.

Another thought: no rubber soles on shoes. The rubber will wear off and get into the ventilation systems.

It's from Isaora's F/W 13. Not sure if it's actually coppable yet or not; see >>7028017.

Last one I'm posting, and they also have a bunch of their staple-y kangaroo pocket crews and flap pocket cargos that people here should be able to get some mileage out of.

I'm not sure what I think about this one - I mean, it's good, but it reminds me more than I'm sure it should of Undercover. I remember it as being derivative before I go back and look at it again.

One of the challenges we've always wanted to tackle since we launched was the moto jacket. How do you go about reinterpreting one of the most sacrosanct garments of all time without ruining it? We finally (and humbly) have our answer. Inspired by both superbike and touring bike gear, we've built a tough and peerlessly lightweight jacket that can brush off whatever the road throws your way. Solid leather construction meets unparalleled flexibility via stretch wool panels at major points of articulation, while a waxed nylon exterior backed by ripstop lining keeps you 100% weather-proof at all times. The guac on top of this magnificent enchilada is 60 grams of PrimaLoft ONE insulation laced throughout the jacket's body - show us another moto jacket with that toasty little feature in the mix and we'll eat our hats (seriously, we're making hats next spring).

Made in New York
Available in Stone Green (with Solid Black detailing)
Calfskin leather sleeves with body-facing stretch wool panels
Reinforced leather shoulder panels
Zipped sleeve cuffs
60g PrimaLoft ONE insulation
One zipped internal chest pocket (wearer's left)
Two chest pocket systems with two storage bays each
Distressed-waxed nylon top layer
Double layer storm placket
100% ripstop lining

>A polyester or nylon shirt could certainly last a few months of nonstop wear before falling apart

I think a rotation of maybe three or four shirts a crewmember washed infrequently would last quite a long time. Anyone here know how submariners' uniform issue goes?

>cotton

I'm pretty sure they'd be growing hemp, more durable and if all the propaganda is to be believed less resource-intensive to grow.

One layering possibility that'd jive with a lot of the inspiration people bring: natural fabric undershirt to protect from sweat a nylon shirt-jac.

>paper clothing
>cellulose

Why not just some kind of rayon?

>The rubber will wear off and get into the ventilation systems.

I don't think so. Or at least I hope not; leather soles suck. If that was a problem, you'd hit on it with any fiber fraying, and a quick GIS brings up pic related.

If F/W 12 is any guide, just wait a year and they'll have it on clearance for 60% off, with stuff to move "days" before the F/W 14 launch. S/S 13 is also on clearance at 50% off now.

I really hate stupid pricing schemes like that. Why price it where you have to do stupid deep discounting like that later to move it?

Rayon production is a fairly nasty process involving organic solvents, and then you've still just got thread that needs to be turned into fabric.
