Nah, that was made by meta.

tbh I think its a good thing because the whole concept is still young. Even if there are no hard and fast rules for Lunarcore it can help people wrap their heads around the aesthetic a little better for the time being.
Also, let's be honest, I think this is probably the most that many of us have thought in real depth about planning out the palettes in our outfits ahead of time. It's a good way to start thinking about colors as actors in a scene.

Homie. That's how genres start. The first chillwave musicians didn't set out to make chillwave because it didin't exist. It's just a term to describe a handful of albums that sound vaguely similar. Most of the first 'chillwave' artists didn't even like the label.

Genres are just verbal shortcuts that facilitate talking about a certain aesthetic be it visual or sonic.

Yo let me just say a few things about the infographic, because some people seem to be taking it the wrong way.

First of all, I'm not trying to "concretize" or canonize this style. These fits are not the zenith of the style; not perfect, platonic ideals. They are just well crafted examples. Someone could still outdo them, however. Everyone should keep exploring and pushing the boundaries of this style.

This infographic exists not to constrain, but to inspire.

This is not a checklist, or a shopping guide. It began as an exploration of the underlying palettes you could play with. The names were invented off-the-cuff (with apologies to poet.) Giger, for example, references H.R. Giger in mood but not literally in tone. The example garments are there to show how the palettes could come together into an outfit, again not as a checklist but for inspiration.

TL;DR: Keep digging for garments, keep pushing the style, keep asking questions, keep being creative.

They're not. Cyberpunk anime outfits typically feature rounded, plastic-looking protections, and skintight garments. Not to mention the weird hairstyles

Lunarcore, as mentioned several times in previosu threads, takes inspiration from western movies and comics.

This. Cyberpunk as it was developed in the 80s left a lot of room for interpretation. As it manifested and concretized in the 90s it became the prototypical wearable-tech-focused, black leather pants EBM style we now associate with the term. Let's look further back to Gibson's theatrical anarchoterrorists the Panther Moderns. These fits as imagined by a concept artist, especially the far left, are definitely hitting the style.

by weird techno stuff, you talkin bout disregardin human form entirely, or mostly
cuz the male in the pic do it slightly, thats the bulk a light distortion of form
females do ligt distortion ther too but looks off cuz they got a more defined form, bein female? not so much about femininity but i always kinda went some vague female in my head being the primary rep of human form or i guess what it strives to be
dunno how muscleman fits into that tho

>>7002926
oh sure
im just thinkin like modern technology influence is gonna have the bulky kinda shit we see goin around
but i duno lunarcore is bein pretty vague it refers to both superfuture future and nasa today
way i see it the humanity levels throughout go like nasa leavin humanity for techno, future comin back into humanity with shit like alien design, things gettin toned down a bit techno vibe always there but more taperin and closer cuts
and then you go superfuture with shit like cyborgs and we come back into human form bein the ultimate goal but a more pure and abstracted humanity
and basically chicks dont do so well bein technologized in nasa fashion. im thinkin its cuz nasa is leavin humanity, but humanity is female
course those 3 groupins are extremely vague and dont really amount to anything

I was wondering about that filename. I see the pixels now. Not bad, conceptually.
I would try to mirror the zips and simplify the paneling. Instead of a bright white, a dirty grey would be easier to work with. The perforated material is great.
It would probably respond nicely to spray-dye finishing, and I think there's a much duller, vaguely reflective orange one could source, although a scuffed silver 3Mish textile might work better.

So how long before lunarcore goes the way of, say, Steampunk, and people start gluing little light-up LED readouts and 90s comic book pouches and goggles and shit onto their clothes? Let's face it, it's going to happen. Sooner or later someone on tumblr will be rocking a real space helmet in their fit in public and they'll SAY it's ironic but it won't be and everyone will start to have second thoughts.

they both looked good in different ways.

alien happened waaaaaay farther in the future, by that time spacefaring was common place and poor people populated the stars. the nostromo was a freighter, those people worked blue collar jobs. they were only told to go to the planet because they were the closest ship.

prometheus happens only like 70 or 80 years in the future iirc. the prometheus (the ship) was a very special ship, probably one of a very few amount made by weyland corp, and weyland himself was onboard and this is a time where only huge corporations and very wealthy people have the means to go into space.

so within the logic of the films its pretty easy to imagine the reasons for the difference in the way the ships looked.

but prometheus failed in a lot of other ways, the visuals were the strongest thing about it and it had one or two really great scenes. the rest was a fair load of crap

alien is a 10/10 film because it had such focus and creates an amazing atmosphere that is completely in line with the films goals. prometheus had a great atmosphere too, but they ruined the space mystery they were building in the first half with a bunch of bullshit in the second half

/autism

This is a terrible explanation, but a whole bunch of folks here just sort of agreed on it. The time was ripe for something really new and so we all hashed out the details together (we're still doing that). After a mood board and a few decent threads, it gained a little momentum. Knoch dabbled in what we would now call Lunarcore way ahead of time, he was really visionary in that regard.
What happened here was a concentrated effort to capture a certain vibe via clothing choices. A strong focus was always on accessibility - The look should stand out, work in multiple real life settings AND be financially accessible to a wide range of people.

my views on the film are the first bit was a bit forced and i wouldve liked to see a different more convincing process for finding all the map stuff, or have it cut out all together and have the movie start on the prometheus. the only reason the movie started on earth seems to be to introduce the two main scientist characters, but all the character introduction couldve been communicated by rapace's acting (she did a great job) and i think david's introduction would make a much more interesting intro to the movie. i did like the eyecandy of scotland or wherever they were, and this is one of the view movies i'd've recommended seeing in 3d when it was out in theaters, it was really pretty and they did a great job with the 3d, very subtle use of to just enhance the ambiance.

another problem i had with the film was the complete 90 degree turn they seemed to take after setting up what was promising to be an extremely interesting mystery plot. when they were exploring the dome for the first time i was really interested: we see david doing weird shit on his own and we grow interested in his motives, the hologram replays introduce the first real hint at a threat: what are these things running from? is whatever got them still here? if those holograms are still working in this place, what else is? is someone watching the astronauts? this whole part was cool and engaging.

then stuff starts getting annoying and feels like they just put stuff in there that they thought would be cool, regardless of whether it made sense or seemed plausible. first, the geologist and biologist go off on their own because a dead body creeps them out and they go and get lost instead of just heading back to the ship. the geologist was the one mapping this shit, how'd he get lost? oh i guess it was because he was high. then they go and get themselves killed like idiots because this is a horror film all of a sudden.

>> No.7005997

oh yeah, the movie was fucking beautiful. i said as much in the first post that you had a problem with
>the visuals were the strongest thing about it and it had one or two really great scenes

>>7005966 cont
there's been a lot of talk trying to explain their actions, but there shouldnt have to be these big discussions to explain the motivations of two minor characters. a good writer wouldve given no reason to question why these two idiots left to go die. the only reason the writer would be able to give you is 'so they could get killed by a vagina penis snake and some goo'

the next stupid thing that happens is they bring a dead alien head back to life for the sole purpose of it saying some garble and then exploding. why bring a head back to life? thats fucking gross and doesnt make any sense.

the next stupid thing that happens is david sacrifices a vital crewmember just to see what would happen. what, they dont have a fucking laboratory on this ship where they can analyze the chemicals and shit in the black goo? i guess that takes too long.

the next stupid thing that happens is the rest of the movie i'm finished

the best part of the movie was the visuals and squid baby that was nxtlvl body horror. that doesnt redeem the annoying cliffhanger, the pointless/nonsensical subplots/plot, and a bunch of other stuff that i dont remember except for it being bad
