That's the thing tho, you really can't. It may seem like you can but when you reach a certain level of consumer goods there's this very specific, very subtle level of luxury and detail that's easy to overlook when you're not on the receiving end of its grace for extended periods of time. You look for that feel elsewhere and you might think you've found it in a Zara long tee or something from All Saints but when wear-away sets in you're left with something that just feels a bit... off. It doesn't integrate with your life quite as seamlessly, for example. You notice it when you shouldn't. It doesn't feel like it used to on your shoulders.
It can be a hard thing to really put your finger on at first and I can see why you'd say that cheaper alternatives are a plausible option for the fashion-forward, but half-assed purchases have proven this wrong, to me, time and time again.
