If you're underage, save up your lunch money... but even then you shouldn't give up food just for a pair of shoes. If you can, go find a job. I'm a broke college student too, but saving up goes a long way. Small things like cooking for yourself and not eating out add up. It helps if you bills aren't expensive as fuck, but I don't know that. Anyways, the quality is real nice, and the shoes are very comfortable. Just don't buy them at retail, buy it either at Tres-Bien for 20% off given that you're not in the EU, or eBay, classifieds it.

The point that is being made about consumerism is that CPs are a niche shoe marketed to people that appreciate minimalist design and high build quality, whereas if you take a pair of Nike Blazers for example, the idea of consumerism fits much better to the Nike's, which are mass (and I mean MASS) produced at a cheap price targeted at a very large market audience who are far more likely to prefer spending $80 on a pair of shoes than $350
