IMO you should look for one of the collaboration shoes between one of the big cheap shoe brands and a higher-end brand. I got some YMC x Clark's this season for my brother's birthday, and Converse x Nigel Cabourn seems cool. Stuff like that.

The thing that makes it cool is that it's not the same stuff you find at the mall, so you won't run into anyone wearing the same thing, but it's not much more expensive, either.

And then after that start saving for a real pair of boots/shoes.

the only thing that bugs me about how he makes the red wings look is how one time he did a side-by-side of his old oro-russet 875s and his new 8881s, and the older pair has dirt and hairs on it. IMO your best bet might be going with a darker leather moc toe pair with a lug sole. red wing tends to look better the worse the abuse gets. if you mean "Canadian winter: have to walk through snow sometimes in downtown Toronto, really sux" (my Canadian Winter ordeal) then that could work for you. I just saw these on eBay.

The boots are composed of two leathers, that is a grained and a smooth leather. Parts in one leather on one boot, are of the other leather on the other boot.
