How do you store your clothes, /fa/?

I entirely use hangars for everything, and keep my shoes on a shoe tree.

I heard hangars can stretch out t-shirts, is that true? If so, how the fuck do I store my t shirts without them being creased and shit?

Don't hang things while they're wet. They will get stretched. I know this is true for sweaters, but I just avoid it for everything.

But yeah I just hang my shit

On hangers:
coats, blouses, suiting separates, dresses
If you can, install a second rod in your closet. it's amazing how much space you'll suddenly have.

Folded/in drawers:
Gym clothes, pyjamas, basic tees, socks, underwear, tights

Folded/on shelves:
denim, knits

Shoes: on shelves

Featured clothes (planned outfits, recent purchases):
On a clothing rack.

Then out of season clothing in about three suitcases.

I just moved out of my pretty-large place (where I used the living room and hall closet/linen closet for clothes) and I'm going to be staying in a MUCH smaller place, so I've had to downsize a lot

That's true about t-shirts. Never hang anything knit -- t-shirts, polos, sweaters, anything. Fold that stuff gently and use a steamer to de-crease it before you put it on.

what about not-so-basic tees or shirts

>> No.6583240

>>6583226

you can hang lightweight tee shirts and its a non issue. the reason you dont hang heavier stuff is because the weight of the garment makes it take the shape of the hanger

if you hang super light weight gauzy tee shirts, that doesnt really happen unless you hang them while theyre wet. thats just my exp.

lol ppl can store clothes however they want.

it really depends on how heavy the fabric is...i have a couple heavier tees that i wouldnt hang, would warp the shoulders, but i have no problem hanging light cotton ones

>> No.6583281

>>6583270
what i dont hang my light tees because they get warped really easy

like single layer rick shirts and silent tees i need to hang by the other tags so the shoulders dont get fucked

>> No.6583286

Let's say I have a crew-neck that's warped a bit along the crew, is there a way to fix that?

lay them flat to dry instead. hanging then while wet will make them stretch out because of gravity. all the water will flow to the bottom of the shirt. you will notice thay if you hang something on a hanger to dry while wet, the top will try the quickest, while the bottom and bottom of the sleeves will stay wet the longest.

layig it flat will allow it to dry evenly. lay it out on a clean towel on a flat surface

>>6583281

really? hm mine dont, maybe its the type of hanger or yours are heavier fabric or something idk.

>>6583286

depends on the type of fabric, if its warped in a weird way, i would put it in cold water, wring it out, and flatten the whole shirt on like a flat surface and let it try after you smooth the fabric out.

jeans - clip hang
other trousers - fold hang
shirts, tanks and sweaters - fold flat
shoes - sit in a corner
socks, belts, underwear etc - sit in a drawer

Will one of those drying racks do, is it flat enough or does it need more support?

Should I give it a mild ironing when it's still a bit damp?

>> No.6583326

well shit if I can't hang clothes while they're wet, what do? I don't like having them dry out the dryer because it usually isn't too great for the fabric.

i just double checked, i hang my rick tees normally and silent ones by the silent tag

i also dont hang my leathers normally because im a scared pussy

>> No.6583353

if youre really concerned, flatten it on a towel, and leave it in the sun. you dont need to iron it at all.

yeah probably a good idea if you dont wear it often, if you take it off the hanger to wear every day its probably no big deal though

idk though might be bad for more pliable, stretchy leather. I know they hang leather jackets for months in stores though so it cant be too bad.
