Found something that I want. Rather than buy it straight away, I plan to put away a hundred bucks a week towards it, and if it's still there when I'm finished and I still want it then I'll get it. Antique shop has it priced at $595, but I have no idea how much it's worth in the average market. Presumably I could get it for less. Anybody know about such things? It isn't really a matter of how much I'm willing to pay for it; I only want to pay as little as possible.

That chair is /fa/. Definitely buy it.

When I'm at antique shops or flea markets, I always try to bargain. But I always try to bargain fairly, I don't throw around low ball offers. If you make a low ball offer, they're not going to take you seriously.

Grow some balls, get out there, and just ask. The worst they can do is say, "No".

If it's priced at $600, try to make an offer for $400, and meet midway at $500.

The leather has seen better days and is pretty rough on the arms, but I'm not super concerned about that. It doesn't have any macroscopic tears. The structure is all curved ply. The tag said "1970s Scandinavian styling" or some such ambiguous thing. It's held together with Allen screws, though, and I wasn't sure how recent an invention those were. The shop is a massive warehouse, but it MIGHT have several shops' stock inside - I'm not sure. I only happened upon it yesterday while killing time.

>>6585311
I decided to give myself a cooling-off period as I'm aiming to save money for an approaching prac block anyway, during which I won't be able to work. I could just buy it outright, but it's a pretty big impulse buy for something I don't need and have nowhere to put. I was basically fantasising about moving to the country in the next six months or so for a real graduate job, and actually being able to use it. It won't be the end of the world if I don't get it. When I get closer to the savings goal then I'll worry about narrowing down who to negotiate with. A lot of the stock in the shop had prices crossed out and marked down, and this only had its first tag on, so it might only be a recent acquisition and could come down yet if nobody shows any great interest in it.

Heroin chic is a style of modeling that presented fashion models in a totally different way. Gorgeous models were presented in a more unhealthy way; they had dark circles under their eyes and were extremely thin, almost as though they did drugs.

Interior design literally has NOTHING to do with Heroin chick.
