is it just me or is life so much more easier when you are handsome

ever since I lost all that body fat and oncevered that massive jaw of mine, got a reputable haircut and fixed my posture, the whole world is smiling at me

at subway, at city hall, or applying for jobs

why are people so superficial

Genuine good looks are rare, but even in fragments it is highly sought after. This is just an observation, but handsome people are, to some extent subconsciously, assumed to be more competent in particular domains then the actual qualified person, who may not be a looker but knows what he or she is doing. And because of its relative rarity, and we people are egoists, it is seen as a mark of status to be or be with one's company, a mark of elevation over other people; and since everyone wants what they cannot (necessarily) have, they are heeded more value than they are perhaps warranted.
