lots of rick t shirts, including the infamous ones like this pic, aren't actually asymmetrical, though from what you're describing i think you would very much like the double layers, which do happen to be slightly asymmetrical and are a little looser, less stretchy, and not sheer.

rick barely does asymmetrical tees though.
on mainline you'll find basics that are ribbed, tight and semisheer / thin cotton semisheer, both tight and oversized / rayon and silk mixes (lightweight and softer than cotton but less durable), both slim fit and oversized
on drkshdw line you'll find basics of cotton jersey. pretty basic stuff mostly. there's some sheer stuff but not much.

some of the seams run straight, some of them are curved. it has to do with the way the materials are handled. it's not really asymmetrical per se, it's actually a straight seam which is canted to match the angle of the fabric.

no. it's not different from a normal torso except that they moved the side seams to the back and blended them together. sometimes they cut the fabric on a slight bias, but in order to ensure that the garment remains accurate and does not distort they have to skew the seam to match the grain lines.

is this because the way the fabric is woven it will drape/twist/distort differently depending on the angle it's draping at?

changing the grain which hangs lengthwise on the body has some moderately predictable effects on the way a garment wears. generally, the lengthwise grain is will have the most structure, the crosswise grain will give it some stretch and is really useful for stretch panelling, and the bias, which is any diagonal angle, will improve the way the fabric drapes about the body.

that's what a woven fabric looks like. knitted garments are different, and here is a basic stockinette knit; you'll notice that the yarns don't run up and across like on woven. they do still have grain considerations and are similarly affected by cutting on the bias.

this dress uses a lot of bias cut panels, and you'll notice that in spite of not being at all tight it's very body conscious, which is one of the properties of biased fabric. it also causes the skirt of the dress to hang in long drapes, and you'll notice that the seaming of the bodice is diagonal to match the grainlines.

if i can find it, i have a textbook that details how to drape this dress, altho i don't have a scanner so ill have to snap photos

yeah after reading that last post I looked into fabric bias and I guess cutting it at different angles allows the fabric to stretch differently, makes sense I saw some close ups of woven fabric and can see how cutting it one way will have more stretch than cutting another way

SLAB was licensed in partnership with Paul Guez, the guy who has been behind several different mainstream, very "LA" type denim labels like Antik and Taverniti and his holding company Blue Concepts. They were ostensibly Rick designs, but basically basic cut-and-sew pieces that only obliquely referenced his designs at the time and were produced in LA, not Italy. The designs are a little rougher and not as cleanly executed as what Rick does now under DRKHSDW, but you see the beginnings of his ideas for how to brand his secondary labels: a large, unadorned rectangular label and obvious, blank squares worked in to the waistband of jeans.
