well shit, I may go for a field jacket instead. is it worth buying one off asos considering how much it costs to ship it back if it doesn't fit? I'm in nz, the place seems to be an absolute shithole in terms of retail stores. prepared to spend $300-ish on something that'll last

Make sure it's the right denim. I bought a denim jacket at an op shop a few weeks back that looks very much like this. Lined and has the fur collar, but the denim is that more traditional colour that your dad's jeans are (brighter, more saturated blue). It clashes horribly with my 511s, still looking for some nicer denim to wear it with.

I have a levi trucker jacket that I wear regularly with White and Tan jeans, looks great. I'd never wear it with anything resembling blue though.
