Silver Mountain Water is one of my favourite fragrances of all time.

Nothing comes close in terms of fresh crispness. The tea note is absolutely amazing and the scent has one of the best openings.

Perfect for all seasons, even winter. The crisp, cool nature is refreshing in both hot and cold climates.

I decided to buy a bottle of Sillage after everyone bashing Creed batches and price increases (to be fair, my 2024 batch of SMW is great).

Initial impressions of Sillage:

It definitely shares the “DNA” of Silver Mountain Water. The opening is similar, but seems to have a minty note in there.

No signs of the green tea in heart notes. Which is a shame as it’s my favourite element of SMW.

The base notes don’t have the same subtle woody/musk of SMW. Smells more generic and even harsh to my nose.

It’s definitely a lot “stronger” than SMW, but with a slight crudeness and less refined balance than Creed.

SMW I get 4-6 hours before it becomes a skin scent, 8+ on clothes. Sillage I’d give it 6-8 hours.

Sillage almost becomes unrecognisable as Silver Mountain Water after a couple of hours.

It’s a decent enough dupe. Excellent value for the money. But it doesn’t replace my love of the original.

Might try layering the two and report back.

>Everything in the Le Labo store is meant to look like it was salvaged or upcycled, as if the salespeople stumbled upon a store and just started hawking their wares one day. When you walk through the real estate of Le Labo, the carefully constructed shambles, you understand why Roschi and Penot claim to have been inspired by wabi-sabi.
>Nobody at Le Labo seems concerned with politics of appropriating the aesthetic of urban decay - of poverty - for a luxury perfume brand. It is a style meant to appeal to the consumer who lives in a Le Labo city, an exclusive city. It is based on the idea that poverty is authenticity because no one would choose it if they could have something else - in other words, selling Detroit to San Francisco.
>When you walk through a Le Labo store, it does what it is meant to do: it feels like a place made for people who have $425 to spend on a perfume. Because the only people who would have an aesthetical appreciation for poverty are people who have never been in poverty. Le Labo is perhaps the most inauthentic, unnatural, and soulless perfume store I have ever visited.

It's not the notes you talked of but honestly the L'Homme Ideal Parfum from Guerlain is a good cuddle fragrance. It has a very warm, soft feel to it. A little bit of leather, a little bit of musk, and a little bit of sweetness without being too much at all. The sweetness is like a less sweet amaretto. it also has the benefit for cuddle fragrances of smelling very similar in the initial application as in the dry down. Another good cuddle fragrance is Le Male Le Parfum. It is sweet and a little spicy. It sin't peppery though, it is cardamom. It doesn't have jasmine, but it does have Lavender and Iris. I don't know what Jasmine smells like so I don't know how similar they are. But it also does have Vanilla. While it is called Le Parfum I think it might actually be EDP concentration. But it definitely lasts a while. I have put it on in the evening and woken up the next day and still smell it on myself. I can also smell it on my pillows a bit too. So it does have lasting power and rubbing off power. It is not too expensive either, and I think discounters have been lowering prices on it a bit recently.

Okay, first of all, rude. Wasn't even me. Second, I'm gay. Dating is really more of a straight thing. I've been on many gay "dates" and it always just feels like pretending to be straight. I saw your picture on the app and contacted you, either we're going to fuck or we aren't. There's no need for us to sit here and pretend to care about Phantom of the Opera. Many of them even frequent this thread. Same people who are surprised to find out that both Bleu de Chanel EdT and Sauvage Elixir contain real oakmoss/treemoss, despite oakmoss/treemoss not being an "official" note and neither fragrance smelling like the "oakmoss" note they have pictured in their minds, as it is easily subdued by almost any other note (due to the low amounts). What they know as oakmoss is most likely entirely evernyl by now.

>>18103803
>the notes taken from the perfumers website you dipshit, that's anarchiste_a. parfumos notes are less accurate in this case because they're autistic and don't make new notes, they just generalize it
Exactly what the other poster meant. Notes are irrelevant. No reason to insult anyone over it. Making assumption about notes on whatever fragrance website is also incredibly shortsighted. Fragrantica just uses the official notes, the people on Parfumo often add notes based on what they think they smell. If you follow any discussions on parfumo, you will quickly realize that just like on fragrantica, the people there have no clue and their noses are far from "perfumer" level, so whatever notes they think they smell might also be off by far. I only trust the most autistic basenotes posters when it comes to smelling anything.

Some of them because I like them. Some of them because I got them as part of some swap. Some of them because I bought them used as kind of a sample (not necessarily pictured, but as an example I acquired a bottle of CAHSEE with 20 mL left in it for 15 bucks, knowing full well that I'd never empty a full bottle but still like to mix it up and wear it from time to time). I don't care much about the label on the bottle, if I smell it and like it, I wait for a good deal and then acquire it.
Of course, my main rotation isn't necessarily included in this picture, as it wouldn't be able to stir shit.

Yeah. In fact I think they may have stopped selling the EDT. All I see on the Guerlain site is the EDP and Parfum. At least for now. LVMH has an annoying habit of arbitrarily pulling fragrances and then bringing them back for no reason.

But the EDP seems to just be the same fragrance at a higher concentration. They didn't add notes like they did with the Parfum.

Random haul from an antique store lately:

- Some old Stetson. It's more opaque, a bit richer and vaguely peppery, really fantastic and still the same soft feminine floral little lovely guy.
- A discontinued White Linen flanker called "Breeze", turns up the radiance, loses the weighted blanket pressure of original. It's sorta dominated by celery and musk. More fresh and clean which was the presentation of the original even though WL ironically has this kinda funky borderline animalic aspect.
- Teeny tiny bottle of Beautiful, it's so cute it's the size of my thumb.
- Old bottle of green Polo missing the cap.
- This weird bottle of old aftershave called "Dalai Musk", very nice bathroom bauble, gentle lightweight caressing oriental kind of profile.

Store owner said she was gonna raid this old woman's trailer and apparently there's some fragrance in store with that so I can't wait for the next visit. However, in the standard commercial domain, I also got fresh bottles of both Youth Dew and Azuree for my catalogue of classic Lauder's and the works of the titan Mr. Chant. Azuree is quite intense and the Aramis dna is immediately apparent. What's the deal with this Estee Lauder Legacy Collection? I guess I get the desire for a resurrection, but these bottles are 3-Hundo cause of what, the Freddie Malle association? The need to differentiate the good stuff from their contemporary shampoo smells? "Ladies, don't shamble over to that Black Opium counter! Ya ever heard of a little something called Knowing? Yeah um we *never* had it behind the counter at all since the apologetic fountains of Gorgeous Goddess nonsense"

Not a reformulation queen myself, but I follow actual changes in the ingredients lists, as tracked by some forum autists.

Here's the most recent Cool Water changes:
Until 02/02/2022:
ALCOHOL DENAT., AQUA/WATER/EAU, PARFUM/FRAGRANCE, ACRYLATES/OCTYLACRYLAMIDE COPOLYMER, ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE, BHT, CITRAL, CITRONELLOL, GERANIOL, HYDROLYZED JOJOBA ESTERS, HYDROXYCITRONELLAL, HYDROXYISOHEXYL 3-CYCLOHEXENE CARBOXALDEHYDE, LIMONENE, LINALOOL
After 02/02/2022:
ALCOHOL DENAT., AQUA/WATER/EAU, PARFUM/FRAGRANCE, ACRYLATES/OCTYLACRYLAMIDE COPOLYMER, LIMONENE, LINALOOL, HYDROXYCITRONELLAL, HYDROLIZED JOJOBA ESTERS, CITRONELLOL, CITRAL, GERANIOL, ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE

Most importantly, BHT was dropped (potential endocrine disruptor or cancer risk or something like that). Lyral was dropped (the carboxyaldehyde), as demanded by regulatory changes. Some of the other ingredients swapped places; the place usually stands for the amounts of the respective ingredient in the formulation. Whether or not anything that would be included under "Parfum/Fragrance" was added to make up for the loss of lyral is not known.

Pretty damn nice take on the citrus aromatic EDC. Distinguishes itself from the crowd with the focus on orange and the low dosage of florals. Makes it kind of darker and more in your face green than the usual lemon neroli burst. It's a bit strange that they renamed it from the original name it had since the 1970s, but the current name is fitting. Maybe more relaxing in the shade if the orange tree than eating a green orange though.
Performance is weak, as expected. Maybe a bit more than most EDCs because of the heavier base, but not much more.

From close, especially during the first 15-20 minutes, it still has that bitter harshness I picked up the first time I tried it, but when smelled from a distance it's one hell of a fragrance. Might pick up a 60 ml version when and if it gets discounted, because where I live the current prices are just not worth it.

Nah, he actually loved all those rejected briefs and openly seethed at the people who turned them down. And many cases he was right. I'd really like to smell what all of those Bourdon compositions were like before Olivier Creed started swapping ingredients. I have a feeling that, if they didn't just outright smell better before Creed started fucking with them, they were probably a lot more stable. One of the things Creed did was go in an swap out much of the original ingredients for more expensive alternatives, and that's almost certainly why so many Creed releases smell very natural but last 20 minutes before becoming a skin scent. There's a very delicate balance you have to strike between naturals and synthetics when working with high end materials, it's not a matter of just throwing a bunch of expensive ingredients into a bottle and slapping a label on it, which is what it sounds like Creed did. Perfumery is all about chemistry and there's a reason there's only a couple dozen really successful perfumers in the world. It's not an easy job to do well.

People will notice that you smell good. However Only a tiny fraction of people will be able to discern which fragrance you are wearing. A larger fraction might have a preference regarding types of scents and season. Meaning they might notice if you are wearing a heavier scent in summer, but it won't make a big difference. However you will notice and the most important part of any fragrance is the effect it has on the wearer. You should feel good when you apply it and when you smell it periodically. If it is a hot summer day and you feel like you have the perfect, light, fresh, and citrusy fragrance to apply for it that is a great reason to have the selection of perfumes that you do.
