It's amazing, especially in the flat black lacquer dial.
But they really need to do something with it other than the fucking sunburst dial pattern.

Why not a vertically brushed dial texture or something.

I watched an objective review today of a guy who has super macro lenses and stuff. The watch was gen 3 overseas, 4500v in Blue. And like I said, he was objective and tore that thing a new asshole. Scratches on the Dial, the Hands had scratches, the date Numbers' print is worse than low 3 digit watches and they're uneven (!) in width. The right side of the 8 for example is almost twice as thick as the left side. And to top it all off, it does NOT have antireflecting properties on the glass or dial in general so it constantly reflects lighting from any source.
Which got me thinking, it really does seem like a non worthy competitor to the other 2 steel sports watches. It's overpriced but then you turn the watch around and it makes sense. And yet still, I don't think it's worth the pricing if the QR isn't on par.

I just don't see the point of integrated bracelets. Just make a normal watch on a bracelet with solid end links. What's the benefit of an integrated bracelet over pic related? None. Stop falling for that crap, the whole point is to sell you proprietary bracelets and straps.

GS hands and markers (not to mention dials) are probably slightly ahead of the hands and markers on an RO or Overseas.
On a GS the geometries on the hands and markers are typically more complex, while on the RO and Overseas they're more simple.

Also, here's an interesting fact: the Royal Oak is one of the very few Swiss watches that are finished with a Sallaz (spinning tin plate) machine, which is the same as GS' zaratsu.
So essentially any GS has the same level of case finishing as an RO. And movement finishing btw.
So compared to a GS, you're paying more than twice for an RO just because of the name and prestige.

The Overseas on the other hand has a movement finished to haute horologie standards.

Here's an illustration: the RO hour marker has three planes: top and two slanted sides. Not counting the vertical edges.
While this GS hour marker (snowflake) has five major finished planes: top and four slanted sides.

But there's more: if you look closely, the GS hour marker in pic even has a minute stepped box section on top of it.

Or they could try no texture at all. The thing that makes the FPJ Chronometre Bleu's dial so beguiling is that it doesn't have any texture. It's just perfect layers of lacquer on a gold plate.

They did the dial texture thing in the 90's and 00's. It's played-out for them, since they could never settle on a design and stick with it, like AP with the tapestry or PP with the horizontal channels.

>integrated bracelet usually has screws holding it in place instead of friction fit metal parts
>cant wear out because it's screwed in, totally solid, no moving parts

Integrated bracelets are superior for build quality and longevity. They also look better. The downside is complexity of construction. Except for the 3rd gen Overseas, you have to visit a certified watchmaker to swap bracelets / straps on them. Trying it yourself is a bad idea.

Yeah the 3rd gen is more refined. I'm not super thrilled about that. I get that it's supposed to match the level of luxury but an integrated sports watch should look robust and industrial, while being over engineered to hell. I prefer the brutal look of the 2nd gen mainly because of that. It looks like something that can survive nuclear bombs, while the 3rd gen looks like it will melt in the sun.

Only a few of them look good. The Royal Oak obviously, since it's iconic. The 222 maybe. And a few others like the Rolex Midas, because it was part of the design. I also like the H. Moser Streamliner because of its organic look. Everything else is unnecessary and stupid.

>Can be fixed by any jeweler.
No it can't. What happens in these older bracelets is friction fit pins are rubbing against their sleeves in the bracelet and widen the holes they are inserted into. The only fix is replacing the bracelet.

Wobbly end links will never happen on an integrated bracelet, and stretch can't happen with screw in pins either.

Bracelet stretch is not bent pins. Stretch is when the grooves that the pins go into are >>stretched<< by the pins. Constant wear and movement causes the grooves to widen so the pins have play and can move sideways.

Bent pins inside your bracelet are obviously fixable but if you have stretch you're fucked. Technically you can laser weld the links back but usually you don't bother and swap out the bracelet.

take apart an old bracelet that has never been cleaned and you'll be shocked by the amount of dirt in there.

Skin oils get on the bracelet and, over the course of the bracelet flexing move into the moving hinges, i.e. the pins. Dirt and dust sticks to those oils and turns into an abrasive paste collects in those areas and gradually, over the decades, wears away the metal.

Where once there were tight tolerances, now all the holes are enlarged, providing even more room for dirt to collect.

There's nothing classic about the Patek Ellipse. It's a Genta designed watch for people who can't afford a Genta designed watch. Nobody holds his dress watches in high esteem and for good reason. The Ellipse is the cop-out Patek to get if you can't afford a Calatrava let alone a complication by them.

Your inexplicable bitterness over a steel sports Vacheron versus a dated, small, ugly old ladies watch tells me that you're just shitposting for the sake of it. Which is not surprising for someone too dumb to properly spell words like "changed".

Yeah get a Bergeon spring bar tool whose head fits your watch and get practice on a cheap shitter before you go to your big pieces. The trick is to grab the pin, pull it inward, and keep your finger pressed against the end link at the opposite side to prevent the pin from slipping upward to fuck up the face of your watch. Push it towards you so it is stuck against the inside of the lugs, then carefully turn the watch around and do the same with the other side so it pops out.

Even doing this you will put minimal scratches between the lugs (hidden by bracelet) or the underside of the lugs when the bracelet comes off. But if you're careful it won't be noticeable at all.

There's nothing classic about the Overseas. It's a Genta-ripoff designed watch for people who can't afford a Genta designed watch.
