Would like some suggestions on a discount diver. Criteria:
>recognizable Swiss brand
>not a black dial

Any suggestions?

Honestly 39 or 40mm is the right size for divers. I say that as a wristlet who only wear small faggy watches.
What matters more that diameter is lug to lug and dial opening. Pic related (Submariner 16610) is less than 47mm lug to lug and has the same dial opening as any 36mm Rolex. Perfect proportions imo.

In terms of build and finish quality only, which watches would be alternatives to the Casio Oceanus T200s?

Imported the T200s is a bit under 400€, so around that budget. Both quartz and mechanical movements are ok..

Now I'm a big fan of automatic movements. There's charm to the mechanical wizardry of all the jewels, wheels, springs etc..

On the other hand a quarts movement in this t200 automatically syncs to your phone over a Bluetooth. It's dead accurate to the second, everyday without any intervention from the watch wearer. That's a lot of convenience. The Daylight savings is auto, Winding never, Batteries never. it's solar. That's one impressive watch.

If it only had tritium tubes. Then you could always read the dial. That design is already a few years old. Casio might even make an improved version.

The tank is arguably the most classic watch silhouettes and designs ever made, and somehow incredibly versatile. The steel case imo, looks amazing and breaks the restrictions an effeminate gold watch creates. Even then, it looks beautiful with a suit on. The tank is able to maintain a thin, low profile because of the quartz movement, which is rare to see in an age where the only watches that men wear are grotesque oversized boomer wrist engines. Also, a tank gets you an endless amount of pussy, because its a luxury jewelry brand adored by women. Its instantly recognizable, and a de facto status symbol for a pretty low price (which isn’t important, but a consequence of wearing one). Like a new combo comes out and people will be tripping over each other to come up with some new name for it, whereas the ones named after celebrities at least have some relation to what that person does or did

>Santos
That's not a Santos.
The bracelet with small links is the most evident difference (and is not available in the usual Santos sizes), but there are other differences, namely the fact that the Panthère is thinner, its lines are a lot smoother and the edges are less sharp, the dial is bigger compared to the case size, the screws on the crown are much smaller, and the biggest size the watch is produced in is 27mm.
You might say it's a woman's Santos.
