i tried on a skydweller today (black dial) and it was very underwhelming

very chunky, very top heavy, very cluttered/busy dial

didn't really sit well on the wrist, rather than kind of spreading out across the top of the wrist equally it sort of sits like a brick up top, the rise is really high on it

if they can find a way to get it to the width of a daytona it'll be better but for now the thing is way too unwieldy

give it like a 4/10 overall

I won't even qualify it by saying for most people, it's just too big. But if I was traveling internationally frequently for business reasons I could see the appeal and would entertain getting one.

No it doesn't. It's just a rotating cage that contains the balance wheel, balance spring and escapement system (ie the components that keep the time).

It was introduced in the late 80s as a more "fashionable" alternative to the Submariner. Basically a watch for the jet set, fags and women. It pretty much failed and now Rolex doesn't know what to do with this watch, so they just experiment some dumb shit on it : Oysterflex, titanium, precious materials, etc. The YM line is a fucking mess.

I like aragon regeneron t100.
You have to like Wing Liang's style of watch. He makes a lot large watches

He likes to make eccentric designs. He has been described as a watch designer for the working man. His watches usually cost a few hundred dollars.. it's tritium tubes. Luminox is too expesnive for what it is. Ball makes nice tirtium tube watch but higher budget .

Look I found a luminox that's not complete crap. This one has a screw down crown at least.

wearing a luminox watch exudes masculinity. This is implied in its rugged design. In 1992 luminox became the official watch of the US navy seals, though it is said that lately some of them prefer g-shocks.

I like the idea of ball watches but I worry, probably retardedly and autistically, about what happens in 20 years when the tubes are dead. Will they replace the tubes? Their models rotate so much they probably won't be able to even assuming they're still in business and they wanted to, they probably won't be using the same tubes anymore and will have to tell you to buy a new watch or get fucked.

This stuff just dries up and wears out over time. When you buy old watches the odds the lume still works well is very slim, often the lume will be yellowed and very week and fade fast. Allegedly newer formulations of lume will suffer less from this but it hasn't been around long enough to really put that to the test. That's the cope Rolex is currently using for their lume not being very bright or long lasting on newer watches, they say it's designed to hold up to long term wear rather than short term brightness.

I like how the money that is spent on grand seiko reflects itself in the quality of the automatic movement. It's the best in the world. +/-1 spd for a 6k or 7k watch.

Now i can go spend 10k or more to get a rolex or Omega only to have the movement drift 3 or 4 seconds per day. it won't keep as good time as a grand seiko. These Swiss watches are luxury brands for people who think their shit doesn't stink. If you must have a Swiss movement fine. Get an omega or w/e. To me the quality of the craftsmanship in grand seiko is where I'd like to see my hard earned dollars go. The grand seiko does the best job of translating money into the highest quality.
this fancy stuff is not for everyone. Although. My pick for a rolex would have to be a 2023 submariner. Black dial w/ green bezel. As for an Omega Id go for Seamaster 300m. Theyre all really beautiful. I guess you don't ha e to give a crap about your 3/4 seconds if you want a Swiss movement or are racist against Japs. I'm not though. I'm sorta a weeb and would be happy with grand seiko or Omega. I dont know if I could have a rolex becuase everybody around me would think I'm a big D-bag. But I do like submariner... but they're just so damn polite. Intentionally inoffensive. These are the limitations you get with these big Swiss brands. And one of the reasons I'm content with inexpensive watched. There's much more freedom of expression when you go lower price brackets.

Nothing against rolex. It's an illustrious brand. Did you know thay sir Edmund Hillary was wearing a rolex when he was the first to summit Mnt. Everest. There's your brand credo.

Youknow, I could do a rolex. I'd just have to get a vintage or used one so that I could tell people I got it at a hefty discount. I live in the rural farmlands with lots of country bumkin red necks. A used rolex is wearable by me.

I could get a new Omega but the people around me don't know enough about watches to know what it is so it would be fine.
