Found some watches i had in high school, not sure its even worth getting new batteries for them though. The middle one is a large/thick style and the breitling may be a fake (also 2 of the small hands have fallen off and are sliding around in there). Yes I totally disassembled both movements, and removed the balance wheel from the staff, also removed the hairspring from the balance wheel on the Orient. Cleaned the parts with Lighter fluid and/or alcohol. I used Moebius 8000 and KT-22 grease for lubrication.
It's been funny for me because I like watches just for the technical part of it.
However as an hobby it sorta sucks because you need expensive equipment for the most advanced jobs and while there are cheap versions of screwdrivers and pliers and other basic tools a stake tool already is pretty expensive.
Also the "serious" lubricants are expensive and it doesn't make sense to buy them is you don't service at least dozen of watches since they expire.
OF COURSE you will fuck up something at first so be sure to work on a movement where parts are easily available, the best movements to butcher up are chinese ETA clones like the PT5000.
The Orient didn't need repairs I kust wanted to service it, the PT5000 broke 2 times: the calendar set lever in the keyless works, and then the second wheel broke from "overwinding" (the movement is well made but the steel used sucks).

That's why I went full clock Chad. It's comfy and the clock movements are pretty much eternal if you take care of them. You can adjust and to some extent fix most parts in them, grind and polish pallet for surfaces etc. Best part is literally hammering in the "missing" tolerances into the movements.

Arguably the best watch from last year was the Longines diver 39mm, which has an ETA movement.
Arguably the most popular watch from the last five years was the Tissot PRX, which also has an ETA movement.
And Panerai has unironically only hurt their brand by switching to in-house movements at the height of the "muh in-house" hype.

I'm not a tax nerd, but I do work in the CPA space and I can assure you that the vast majority of people are dumber you could possibly even imagine when it comes to their taxes. They are told not to do something, they know they'll get in trouble, but they still do it.

On the caseback where it insists that it's "High Quality". Even Breitling doesn't come off that desperate.

It's different for every watch, some are very quiet. If it's on ceramic bearings it will be louder than on steel bearings or a jeweled staff. If the caseback is solid, it will be quieter than one with a display back.
A better cared-for movement will generally be quieter.

It also depends on if the winding mechanism is bi-directional or uni-directional. A uni-directional one will spin freely in one direction and will often make a loud whizzzzz noise, sometimes accompanied by a sensation like the watch is wobbling a little on the wrist.

Rolex ownership is "Girlfriend", other brands are "Wife".
Your Girlfriend just needs to be one thing- smoking hot, the girl everyone at school would have killed for back in the day, so gorgeous that all who glance at her immediately want to see her naked, want to ravish her for hours, want to show her off to their exes, and hate your fucking guts for being the lucky bastard that gets to do all that with her.
Your Wife, different story, that's a logical decision, it's not about looks as much as its about her demeanor, her intelligence, her education, her parents, her siblings, her personality, and all those elements that go into the biggest decision you'll make in your personal life.
"Rolex" is akin to "Cheerleader" or "Prom Queen", so that's half the Girlfriend battle right there. Submariner, Explorer, GMT, Daytona, Datejust....that's the "blonde", the "redhead", the "brunette", and all the different flavors of hotness. Pick whichever one you like, but you know it when you see it and so does every other guy- she's drop-dead gorgeous. Man, what is she doing with you?
When you get to other brands like "Omega" (too much makeup) or "Tag Heuer" (wallflower) or "Tudor" (wannabe) or "Grand Seiko" (the band geek) it requires getting under the hood for all those Wife considerations like the "movement", the "build quality", the "heritage", and all that other stuff. You know it when you see it and so do your friends- nice girl, you two are perfect for each other. Love the apartment, how is the closet space?
You buy a Rolex because for once in your life you want to fuck the blue-eyed blonde Head Cheerleader and make sure everyone notices you as you walk her around. You buy one of these off-brands if you want a safe and uninspired relationship with a practical woman who can make a decent meatloaf.

Thats interesting because getting notifications on my wrist is the main reason i stuck with a smart watch for so long so my phone could always just be silent and not bother anyone else. Finding phone functionality is nice but its nice to have a variety of watches to wear to spice things up. I still wear my smart watch snowboarding though just for music controls.

I liked it very much as well, thats why I bought a new Garmin two years ago. But soon after I got a SIM from work because they disabled our wireless phones. They only had shit models so I used it in the second esim slot. Shit soon started going crazy with calls, E-Mails and texts. It was so annoying that my heart started racing when the wrist was vibrating only to see it was my step goal or some shit. Yea I could just disable the notifications but I started looking for new watches and thought why not ditch it all together.

does this just cause it to run fast/slow or not at all? My newest watch said to try to keep it away from things like cell phones but it seems like it wouldnt happen that easily. I guess these demagnetizers arent all that expensive at least.

Could have added that quote in my last post but whatever. If your watch is magnetized it will always run faster because the spring is sticking together lowering the amplitude. You usually see it when the watch was running great and all of a sudden you are like 30s+ a day. There are these blue chink demagnitizers that apparently work great. Although modern watches are pretty resilient to magnetism a phone shouldn't really be a problem.

Same prices as germany in the early 2000s. It's not that it's cheap there, it's more like that it's very expensive here by now. Average night-out is less than half, maybe even closer to 1/3rd of the cost. Groceries are half the price, Gas is 60% of the price, electricity is at 18cents per kw/h (here it's 40+), house pricing is balkan-tier for decent stuff. There are many cost of living-videos on youtube about Japan. You can go and check them out. From what I've seen, my cost of living there would be around half of what it's here in Bavaria.

That doesn't matter, for a couple reasons.

1. Greeks haven't been white for over a thousand years, and probably a lot longer.

2. Consider a bowl of ice cream with a whole turd in it, then consider a bowl of ice cream with just a tiny amount of feces in it. You don't want to eat either bowl. Now consider that Japan is the ice cream and you, yourself, are the turd, purposely making Japan a little shittier for every Japanese person so you can live out your weeb fantasies.

It looks small on him, but he has pretty big wrists for a manlet.
Picrel, that's a 44mm Panerai on his wrist and it's not close to being oversized on him.

This is what a Ray II looks on me, which is about a 41mm.

I also wear a 36mm quartz Pre-Bond Seamaster, and it doesn't bother me all that much,

N2 is absolutely amazing. I am aiming for N3 right now. I can't imagine getting N2. I applaud you.

March I will stay in a hotel, but after that, I will see what i'll do. The language school offers something like Homestay or something like that.

So it was a sunburst dial. I see.

Good luck. Be confident. I didn't think the difference between the two levels was actually that difficult. Once you get to that point, you should have the patterns inherent to the language figured out.
N1 was a lot harder. I quit on that. It's a lot more literary and there's a lot of cultural context required independent of actually knowing what the words themselves mean.

Take it step by step. Work towards the one you really, REALLY want, and the rest is just bonus. If the One watch makes you happy, then you wont feel the need to buy another one.

Not that anon but whats the watch that did (or is doing) this to you? I have yet to see a watch that really makes me head over heels, i mostly just want an expensive watch for the coolness of high accuracy mechanical time keeping as the $500 and under watches i obviously have noticeable drift relative to time.gov. However i havent seen one that makes me want it significantly more than others.

lmao, there is no way in hell a woman made this
women caring about men's watches is as rare and bizzare as men caring about women's jewelry
imagine some roastie made a "tier list of women's jewelry by hunkyanon" to make fun of the old hags who still like Boucheron and those weird fujoshis who prefer Japanese jewelry brands...
