Yes, as there's a whole category of watches called "dress watches". The Alpinist is a sports watch with some dressy qualities so mountaineers could daily it even in formal occasions. If you want a watch for a wedding you should probably get something purely dressy.

Very positive and friendly, but doesn't post anything of any consequence. Lawyer. Obese. Posts improving photos of amazing watches. Lies about his age. Does not take criticism well.

It's pretty obvious a lot of shitting on Seiko is coping about them being Japanese. Not to say that the 6R shouldn't be regulated better, or that they shouldn't improve their bracelets. But people are far harsher on them than Swiss counterparts. Granted some of it may be founded in a sort of response to rabid Seiko fans, similarly to how some people are really harsh on Omega beyond good reason because of how their fans can be.

From the moment I understood the weakness of mechanical watches, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of quartz. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Eco-Drive. Your kind cling to your shitters, as though they will not decay and fail you. >A Lange & Sohne
New money disguised as old money. Grail watches for people with a poorfag mindset
>Audemars Piguet
If you've already heard their CEO talking and you still want one, you're either a nigger or a boomer desperate to stay young
>Blancpain
"b-b-b-b-but we've released a dive watch 3 months before Rolex". That's a lie though, check Perezcope's article about the Fifty Fathoms
>Breguet
Prestigious brand run by very incompetent people (Swatch Group). Possibly the worst value for money you can get. Kind of sad actually
>Breitling
Fun watches but if your IQ is above average you shouldn't get one
>Bulgari
The Octo Finissimo (basically their only watch) looks like it was AI generated. Won’t age well
>Cartier
Only worth it if you go gold and mechanical. DO NOT get a quartz Cartier. The Santos is VERY Reddit
>Casio
They're good for outdoor stuff. Never wear one in the city or people will assume you’re kind of retarded
>Chopard
They’ve made a Nautilus cope, which immediately disqualifies them as a respectable brand. Some people like their small second dress watches but they're actually ugly. Irrelevant brand
>FP Journe
Weird looking watches with dumb complications for eccentric boomers. François-Paul seems like a fun dude though.
>Girard Perregaux
Once the integrated bracelet fad will finaly die out, this brand will have to declare bankruptcy and nobody will notice
>Glashutte Original
Obvious cope for A Lange & Sohne. People who wear these have very low self esteem

They're the textbook definition of "mall watches". Only people with horrible taste think they look cool

>MB&F
People who wear these probably think talking very loud will make them sound interesting. Basically another brand for histrionic assholes
>Omega
Strong douchebag vibes, especially the Seamaster 300M and the Aqua Terra. The Speedmaster is alright though but the brand is ruining it with the whole Moonwatch thing
>Panerai
They make dive watches on leather straps, which is incredibly stupid. Some of them look kinda cool though
>Parmigiani Fleurier
They've made some of the most disgusting looking watches ever created but their current artistic director seems to have good taste. The Tonda PF looks quite good
>Patek Philippe
Thousands of disgusting watches but maybe 10 HIGHLY DESIRABLE watches that somehow make the brand still relevant today. The 3940 is possibly the best watch ever made
>Piaget
Used to make very sexy little watches with stone dials. Now they make ugly shitters for people who can't afford a Nautilus
>Ressence
Mechanical watches that look like Samsung smart watches. I have no idea who buy those
>Richard Mille
Casio for billionaires. Fun watches to wear at the Monaco Grand Prix. Poorfags hate the brand which make it highly desirable
>Rolex
The best brand. Vintage, neo vintage or modern. You can't go wrong with a Rolex. Only hated by contrarians. The fact they're kind of hard to get make them even more desirable
>Tag Heuer
Same as Breitling but for slightly more retarded people. Their most iconic watch (the Monaco) is one of the ugliest shitters ever made
>Tudor
They're fine until you hit 35. After that just get a Rolex or women will make fun of you
>Vacheron Constantin
People like the brand because the name sounds cool and the logo is nice, but they haven't made a single good watch in 300 years of existence
>Zenith
The only reason this brand still exists is because Rolex bought them some movements 40 years ago

>Casios Solar doesnt even last that long, straps are garbage
That depends on how you keep the charge. If you keep it permanently topped up, it can last for decades. If you let it run down low, like sitting in your sock drawer, then charge it back up, that will reduce the battery life.

The straps on the cheap Casios are bad, no doubt, but on the good ones, like the GW5000, they're excellent and long-lasting, soft and comfortable.

Important to note that, while today, we consider anything at 5Hz (36000 vph) or faster to be high-beat. 4Hz (28800 vph) was considered high-beat even into the 90s. 3Hz (21600 vph) was considered a normal beat rate post WW2 and is still pretty common in movements both cheap and expensive.

In terms of day-to-day accuracy, it doesn't actually mean all that much, it was mostly a marketing thing in the 60, which is also why companies by and large stopped screaming about their movement's beat rates.

That's the most hilarious cope I've read in a while KEK

The rich have never stopped wearing mechanical watches, even at the peak of the quartz crisis. Cartier, Patek, AP and Rolex (the most valuable brands right now) pretty much shaped the market for luxury mechanical watches in the early 70s and survived thanks to old money. The Royal Oak and Nautilus were specifically made to pander to the european jet set in the 70s. If your dad or mom bought a Patek or a CPCP Cartier in the 70s/80s/90s, you're from a very wealthy family.

Bulova, Hamilton and LIP are irrelevant brands for the working class. Only watch nerds care about diamond incrusted Accutron.

This. Truthfully, they still make custom watches if you pay enough but, back then, they didn't have 'off the shelf' pieces. You'd go to one of their boutiques, look at case shapes, dial styles, hand styles, case sizes, materials, etc and pick a combination you liked, then Cartier built it for you.

That's the reason that no Cartier watches ever seemed to be discontinued. The Tank Normale, for example. It's rare not because a decision was made to stop producing them, but simply because no one ordered it.

Cartier wasn't alone in this practice. Pretty much every jeweler did it. Cartier was just so well known for being stylish.

the Reverso is based but the AH Hubner is most likely a fake.
the rich and the powerful didn't wear wrist watches like taxi drivers and common grunts (unless they were playing tennis or polo, or race driving a car), they wore pocket watches well into the 1960s.
the Fuhrer was known to have exclusively worn a pocket watch, and he'd gift his closest collaborators Lange pocket watches for anniversaries.
the reason why most pre-1960s vintage watches are so small (<34mm) is because they were predominantly worn by women, children and malnourished working class men with thin wrists.

That's wrong though. Patek, Vacheron and AP pretty much stopped making pocket watches in the late 20s. The Calatrava was the final nail in the coffin.
Pocket watches were still around for a while because they were passed from fathers to sons but almost completely disappeared in the early 40s.

White gold is much heavier and has a slightly more yellow hue. It also scratches and stretches much more easily. But as far as just looking at it with your eyes, no, most people will never know the difference.

Some really rich motherfuckers that don't necessarily want to make it known that they are really rich motherfuckers actually like that, because nobody but seriously entrenched watchfags will think twice About you wearing a blue submariner or blue dial GMT. They think it's just another steel watch.

Man I fucking wish Seiko made a version of this with the 6L, a watch like this really shouldn't be 13mm thick. I guess we're now entering an era of automatic Seikos slowly not being super fat anymore at least.

The auto is fine for what it is but the watch is not meant to be expensive. It's a cheap, fun watch. Moreover, the original Seastar that the PRX is paying homage to was quartz with a sunburst dial. It's closer to the vintage watch.

What bugs me more is the fake tapisserie dial. It takes the PRX from being an homage to a watch in Tissot's own catalog to a weak APRO ripoff.

maybe it's the contrast between the black ceramic bezel and the diamonds

just saw both of these in person the other day. My opinion is that the black one is more engaging. Although, you don't get the sunray dial with the black dial, which is featured in the blue dial.

Unfortunately, it's a fixed bezel FYI.

Besides that, lovely looking and functional watch.
