Nick's is considering getting rid of their Max support walnut and switching to a 1964 mahogany as a replacement lol.
The owner's are completely retarded.
If they really do get rid of max support Walnut it will just be one huge step towards watering down their builder pro line.
Their 1964 leather has much less support than their max support does, and people get it because of that support, and saying you have to get it in black if you want that support is straight up retarded, they literally say it themselves that max support walnut is their most popular leather on logger style boots, so their their genius idea is to get rid of it and replace it with a 1964 leather.

>>17873660
Also I don't care if they get rid of it, it will just mean more people going over to Frank's to get work boots while their brand becomes more and more casual orientated which is what they wanted.
Maybe one day they'll realize that the fucked up when their 1964 leather is 2.5 mm and their leather heel is made out of leather board.

And when they realize all their boots are machine lasted, which is what they are planning on doing, they just bought the machines, and are going to test it out.
It's what Wesco does, but at that point how can they say their boots are handmade lol.
They'll probably end up switching to either a thinner heel counter or a polymer heel counter like Wesco did.

I wonder if Whites are the Rolex of the boot general as in "just get whites and be done with this obssesion, since they'll fullfill your expectations and more".
Regarding arch support I never needed much in that regard, and my Iron Rangers are the boots I default for everyday wear. I got a pair of Beckmans on which I honestly fail to find a flaw in terms of construction and quality, I can't picture myself actually needing (not to be mistaken for wanting) anything better.
But who knows? Maybe one day I'll pull the trigger on some Whites... or not.

But then again, I was kinda a sneakerhead before getting into boots. When I got the beckmans they absolutely blew off any other shoe I'd had so far to the point that I got rid of about 90% of my sneakers. Perhaps owning whites would have a similar effect, but I just can't picture it.

Vibergs have pretty good built quality, but they completely ruin their boots with dainite soles. I owned a pair of 310s and even after half a year of breaking them in, they just felt like I was walking on a rock bed. There's no reason why they shouldn't just be using vibram or Dr soles. Also, their heel counter is not very comfortable, its just too stiff and does not really cup your heel as well as other service boots such as John Lofgren Combat Boots, or especially with a pair of Quan Shoemakers.

Are veldtschoen boots really waterproof?
Also suitable for snow?

We're planning a late Jan/early Feb trip and I need new boots for this sort of thing, was just going to buy salomons but maybe I can kill two birds with one stone?
I would easily wear these also with denim for example, whereas the Salomon boots would just collect dust 99% of the year

What do you mean by "as good"?

Every time I see PNW boots they look crudely made compared to even budget European makers, barely any skiving on panel edges, somewhat sloppy stitching, very wide welts, giant heels not trimmed anywhere close to the upper etc

At least Viberg tries somewhat in those aspects, but the others seem to think the only measure of quality is how thick your leathers are and how many crude rows of stitching you put through them.

Biggest offender has got to be Nick's though

that whole article is such bullshit desperately trying not to say the quiet part out loud, bacause the "community" really hates acknowledging this and chooses to stay silent
these indonesian/chinese bootmakers are running illegitimate businesses in the 3rd world where this still can be done somewhat in the open and their governments don't care/haven't caught on yet, since they focus selling to abroad, use foreign instant messaging services and don't use any of their own personal information, besides maybe their (fake) first name

and as cool as not paying taxes and being able to scam customers whithout recourse is, you can't really make long term investments and expand your operation with the real possibility of being shut down eventually
the benzein-briselblack change is them going legit and actually setting up a website that can be traced back to a real person
obviously they don't want to associate with the old name officially

i seriously don't get why people don't cheer this on and push for all of them to do it, since it protects them as customers more than anything
the thinking is them getting more established and charging more money will push them to do it themselves, but the bigger ones already charge $700-1,5k+ and still operate through instagram and whatsapp
but this whole boot scene is such a worthless hugbox of slurping up product and being a voluntary marketing branch for the brands, they could never inconvinience someone by asking for business transparency and customer protection

I'm still thinking of getting this pair of Vibergs.

They're on 1035 last, not 2030 which would be a must for me and not easy to find in Europe.
They're on Ridgeway, not Dainite which is also a must for me.
They have the 9 small eyelet design / perforated captoe which is a must for me.

It's basically perfect except one thing, the leather. It's waxy kudu from CF Stead and I've heard only great things about this leather, except how to take care of it and keep it looking relatively new. I don't want my boots to look old and beaten after a few months with no way to restore them.

I was trying to find the physical location of Sendra's outlet, if it even exists, when I first noticed this fuckery a couple of weeks ago.
Today I watched the rose anvil video and he mentioned that Thursday had oponed an office in Spain, so I was googling if there was a physical retailer here, so now I'm wondering how many brands are subjected to this scam.
For the record, here in Spain some brands have outlets next to the factories were you can get excedents for about half the price. They don't sell online, of course. But it is fun to go to those small towns and watch all the locals wearing nice shoes.
