Sotd Guerlain Coriolan
Cariolan is a men’s fragrance, presented in 1998 in a woody chypre composition. It is dedicated to the man full of contrast: to Coriolan, a legendary Roman general who was said to be powerful and strong, pride and confident, barer of nobility, braveness and love. Coriolanus has inspired Shakespeare, Plutarh and Beethoven. He was the man who accomplished all of his goals, not because of his glory, but because of a woman he loved. The character of this great man inspired Jean-Paul Guerlain to make this fragrance; to celebrate freedom of the spirit and love with carnal pleasures and seduction. The perfume is made out of lemon leafs, bergamot, neroli and petit grain at the top notes, its heart ticking in a passionate rhythm of spicy fusion of ginger, nutmeg, ylang-ylang and gorse; settling at the warm woody base of patchouli, benzoin and leather. The elegant glass bottle was designed by Jean-Paul Guerlian in association with Robert Granai. The top and the curves on the side of the bottle are made out of bronze.

>Eau des Baux is a fragrance of knights, courageous Chevaliers des Baux.
>Les Baux de Provence is a legendary city-fortress on the south of France. Knights of Les Baux have chosen cypress as symbol of strength and courage. The new EDT was inspired by this medieval legend.
>The colour of box is dark red, and similar to the colour of their uniform. Golden-silver star on the box and bottle is also a symbol of knights of Les Baux.
>A sensual union of cypress and incense is in the center of composition.

It’s very sweet and vanillic. Guerlain Shalimar is unironically as masculine as it and Caron pour homme is way more dry and masculine. But I appreciate de baud and have a bottle myself. Just don’t wear it much. If I want woodsy I prefer Guerlain heritage or Caron yatagan over it. If I want vanilla I prefer Caron pour homme over it. But it’s very popular here. Fahrenheit plays on hot and cold tones within it’s main structure, fusing a cool floral top with a warm woodsy middle, a base of green leather and tonka, plus that all-powerful X factor no other fragrance has, nor even can have, because the creation of Fahrenheit’s most characteristic quality was a total accident. Michael Almairac, Maurice Roger, and Jean-Louis Sieuzac were all competing perfumers working on primitives to win the bid fo the next masculine Dior fragrance, but none had their idea accepted by the design house, and tossed their samples all in the same waste barrel for disposal. As fate would have it, that barrel sat out in the sunlight for a while and fused together, essentially “cooking” into one, and when somebody returned to find the barrel still there, the smell that came off was evidently so captivating that Dior had chemists analyze a sample of it so the perfumers could form a new composition around it as the base! The infamous “barrel note” is really just leather and a strong violet at it’s core, which is the root cause for the petrol smell everyone comments on when they sniff the opening of Fahrenheit, but there’s a mish-mash of whatever else was in those original perfume formulas in there too, cooked up and reduced in a way only nature could, so it’s impossible to replicate without having the formula gleaned from the sample’s analysis. The rest of Fahrenheit is more or less the same late 80’s men’s floral ya-ya that everyone was doing right before the age of aquatics when calone and dihydromyrcenol took over as the chemistry du jour, and is one of few such floral powerhouses from the era still available.

The dragon is very gay, even in how he writes, similar to most of the faggots here. But at least the dragon is knowledgeable. Good find about Fahrenheit, I believe it. Here is gay dragons review or l’anarchist. He noted on the warm cool dichotomy here too.
>The opening of L'Anarchiste is a big blast of peppermint, almost at medicinal levels of menthol, with what feels like some camphor too. Anyone who's smelled Avon Windjammer (1968) or the "steel" component of the Avon Structured for Man (1969) vanity set knows what I mean. Bracing, cold, metallic, and masculine is this opening. Richard Fraysse softens this opening just a bit with mandarin and neroli, more so in the black bottle re-issue than in the original copper-color bottles according to the house itself, due to backlash over the original formula's opening; but the citrus and neroli is in both iterations. The heart of lavender, cinnamon and clove does remind me a bit of Le 3ème Homme (1985), Fraysse's previous masculine for Caron with Akiko Kamei, but the resemblance is fleeting once a dry pencil shavings cedar takes over. A sandalwood note (of some fashion), and white musk smooth out the dry down, while vetiver smoke also weaves in to darken the finish. The final aura of L'Anarchiste is cold, metallic, smokey, synthetic, brooding, but also with enough warmth and sweetness to project off skin rather than fade like the old colognes and aftershaves it models. L'Anarchiste is the anti-establisment robotic parody of the square-jawed clean-shaved slicked-hair white male paradigm of 1950's masculinity, or the band Devo in scent form. Wear time is about 6 hours so longevity is a tad sub-par, but you won't want for projection. Best use is basically whenever, because L'Anarchiste is too bizarre for contextual appropriateness. The minty personality also makes L'Anarchiste a poor winter companion, but the other three seasons seem to work well for the stuff.

> After the shake-up when Cattleya Finance (((Rothschilds))) bought Caron from Alès and (((IFRA))) cracked down on the house's failure to keep up with regulations (wouldn’t want men wearing masculine ingredients like oakmoss would you), the scent was pulled from their website, and since the Fraysse family was ousted in favor of Jean Jacques as house perfumer, who knows if there will be a round 3 for L'Anarchiste? If so, it will keep on being the black sheep of the men's stable during the Fraysse era at Caron; but L'Anarchiste still has to compete with Caron Yatagan (1976) for most-polarizing masculine fragrance the house has ever made. I like it, even if I'm in the minority here, so test your senses before testing your cash on a bottle. This stuff seems to have dried up in the aftermarket, although prices are not mega-dumb because L'Anarchiste is unpopular among hobbyists, so a sample to sate curiousity may be enough. Thumbs up.

It is bull shit. The International Fragrance Association (((IFRA))) is a self-regulatory body comprised of fragrance companies around the world. It aims to gatekeep who can sell fragrances, and to develop standards and regulations for the industry. The IFRA sets standards for the use of fragrance ingredients and provides guidelines to its members. The organization has the power to enforce its rules through its members, who agree to comply with its standards as a condition of membership. The (((IFRA))) sets standards for the use of fragrances in products, but they are not a regulatory body with the power to enforce their standards. Companies that do not comply with IFRA standards may face difficulty selling their products to customers or distributors who only want to work with products that meet these standards. However, the (((IFRA))) standards are not legally binding and companies may choose to disregard them if they so choose. The consequences of non-compliance would depend on the specific circumstances and may vary depending on the country and industry. For example, the (((European Union))), require that fragrances used in personal care and household products comply with IFRA standards. So basically the (((EU))) is cucking the whole industry.

YSL Y EdP has way too much synthetic apple for my taste. Not a good blue fragrance, the classic masculine blue base is overlayed by that sweet fruitiness and it's better suited to young people due to that.
BdC Parfum is really good and as basic as you can get. Not big on the iso-e super in the late drydown but if that stuff smells good to you it's worth testing at a store.
Sauvage takes the regular "blue" smell into a different direction. Proper slap of synthetic pepper in the opening which kinda of stays for a long time, together with that "ambroxan" accord Sauvage is known for.
Can't say anything about Dylan Blue. You should look into Invictus as well. It might be the most boring blue frag of them all, but it does smell good in a simple way.

Other modern blue frags that I really like asides from cw and aqva are Caron pour homme sport and leau. They have the ambergris that make it somewhat aquatic without using calone. Bro are you impersonating me? I just bought Ted Lapidus Pour Homme Sport too and was gonna buy Dunhill Icon next.

Tell me more about the Lapidus, I'm so damn eager to try it, some say it smells like a toilet cleaner (oh no), others say it's a geranium bomb (interesting), others that it's similar to kouros (oh nonono), or that it smells like the basic concept of cologne and clean laundry (yesss). This was the first frag that intrigued me when I got into fragrances. I opted to get Fahrenheit as my first and I'm happy I did, but I'm also happy I got around to grab this now. The bottle was what caught my eye too, just so good looking, love it. I have the OG TLPH, I like it although I wouldn't say I love it, definitely has the potency of toilet freshners, still an interesting frag that I sometimes use.

Also got a bottle of SUNG but I already know how it is, I shattered my previous bottle. Also got D&G Light Blue forever pour homme for my mum, low-key wish I never selected it for her and gave her a sample, I knew it was perfect for her. I cucked myself by making it my future mum's signature since I love it too, but it's a sacrifice I'm more than willing to make for her, luv you mommy.

Yes since sometimes the EDP with the same name has different notes and can smell very different.
But if you only want to count EDPs that are very similar or same notes as the original then idk, EDTs usually have lower longevity but better projection just because there's more alcohol than oil and the alcohol evaporates. Also EDTs tend to emphasize sharp and fresh notes better.

Luna rossa black is often compared to midnight in paris by van cleef though I have NO idea how people have not made that comparison with luna rossa extreme instead, since it's way closer to midnight in paris than LR black.
LR Black is amazing, though not everyone is going to like it because it has that really musky smell of like, fresh tennis balls. I love it and it's my signature desu.
LR carbon is like soapier more metallic sauvage. Personally I like sauvage more, but its not terrible and worth sampling if you kinda like sauvage.
Original luna rossa smells like musky orange soap. Not much to say but I like it as a dumb grab when I just want to smell like detergent.
LR Sport is similar to carbon in the sense that LR sport is basically le male but soapier. I prefer LR sport over le male but I love both pretty equally and le male comes off as more masculine.
Eau sport is just kinda a basic clean citrusy freshie that is pretty unremarkable desu.
As you could probably tell, the luna rossa line is pretty musk forward, aside from eau sport and carbon, and prada likes to make their perfumes (both male and female) pretty soapy and clean. It is one of my favorite lines and I highly recommend LR black, sport, and the OG luna rossa.

LR ocean is trash, not even sure what happened it just smells bad. other reviews have confirmed my opinion on it.

to me it doesn't give off the urinal cake accord. there's a bit of lemon in the opening but it's quite tame. it's primarily diffuse florals (very 70s/80s) and aquatics. some people won't like the aquatic notes but i think it's a good combination, rather unique too. calaj lilyn is similar but the tuberose makes it heavier. the aquatic in the lapidus is more like a lake on a calm summer day, not a rough nordic sea in autumn like heeley sel marin.
it's neither similar to tlph nor kouros. some say its similar to kouros fraicheur but i've never tried it. at the very least it's quite unique

City on fire is what I was most excited for alongside Acrasia. Burnt match note? Sounds really cool. First few seconds I really felt the match, but after that to be 100% honest it just smells a bit like cheese to me. Or maybe yeast. Kind of weird because I was really looking forward to this one. I have to try it on skin for an entire day one of these days. Didn't some anon in here really like this one? I'm not sure yet. It's not too strong though. Been smelling it for 5 minutes straight and now I can feel the match more and less cheese/yeast. Need to get back to this. It's different.

>>17481832
Keep in mind I'm using papers to sample, not skin. Also this one specifically comes in a titty capsule with a nipple. You don't spray it, you just break the tip off and it drips. I used one drop, so maybe a spray is more than that and the scent will be much stronger. Can't tell, but for me it's very inoffensive. No gagging. I mean people like Rien, so I don't know how this would be gag inducing. Not that they're the same thing, but you know what I mean. I wouldn't buy it at the end of the day anyways, but I can't say it's bad.

What does /fa think of perfume alternatives like roll on oils or solid colognes?
I personally prefer roll ons since they tend to last longer while having a less obnoxious throw. I also like that it gets stronger with sweat/body heat so it's like an adaptive defense against sweat smells. Big downside is that the only source for them is random people trying to mimic the top shelf frags, but I've actually found some diamonds. There was this small seller on etsy who used to make a spicebomb imitation that I actually preferred to the real thing.
With that in mind I've decided to give making my own oil a go, since I know what perfumes I like, it would be cool to make a signature scent that's unique to what you can buy.

those are cheap to begin with and can be found at a lot of places that have good return polices, even after opening.

there is someone selling a sample right now and sending letters in the EU shouldn't be expensive. trust me when i say that the chances of a proper store selling sohrab samples is extremely low, i've been keeping an eye on it for over 6 months and there no shops that even sell the 50ml bottle.
the souk is a great place in general, i've never heard of someone getting scammed and i've bought over 50 samples there myself. prices for decants are usually much better than from online shops and it's the only way to sample rare stuff like ensar oud, sohrab and prin fragrances in general, discontinued scents, etc

Just received my bottle of Dakar. Smells like quorum or z-24 in my mind is identical to one if those. Reminds me of the bottles of quorum and z-24 my older brother used to have in his room about 25 years ago. Two sprays of Dakar on my wrist lasted me about three hours and now it's just a faint smell. It's like a bitter smell, makes me think of an old person, I don't think my gf is going to like this but I'll wear it for my afternoon's dance classes and have women recall the smell of their papis

I see Dylan Blue has been mentioned a few times. It was too spicy for me; almost choking me out in hot environments.

copped a 3.4oz of extreme for about 160 on ebay
I think I like LR black over extreme but extreme is still very good. It's basically a powdery, ambery version of luna rossa sport that replaces the fresh light florals and aromatics for a deep, dark (fantasy) and peppery profile. Very similar to the deep profile of midnight in paris but peppery-er.
Recommend finding an official prada sample of it on ebay/mercari or wherever.

I would describe it as being very playful and young. I wouldn't necessarily think of the person as smelling wealthy but it definitely is working hard in the sex department. Borderline feminine but in a confident sex getta way like the scrawny dude with the long hair who can't bench a plate but still gets pussy anyways.

No, but it is a very pleasant smell. YSL's Tux might be more fitting of what you're asking for.
