This would actually be pretty easy to knit, its just knit and purl in the round with some bind offs for the holes

I could try replicating and then posting the pattern if you have any friends/family members that knit

Nice find anon, it's not quite the same, it's missing the nice little tail, but it's pretty much there. I'm going to teach myself to knit and try make one in the coming months.

>As with most designs by Meg Swansen (and her mother, Elizabeth Zimmermann), prose instructions are provided to make a basic design, with suggestions for alternatives.
I guess it is a variation, the one in OP just looks too similar even without the pointy top.

Do you have to sign up to ged2dd8t the pattern?

>> No.17370299

>>17370253
Signed up because I got way too curious and my desire to solve this got the better of me.
Apparently the pattern isn't on the page, if you sign up you also get access to photos of other users who actually made the pattern (which is interesting to say the least with nearly 50 entries) and one lady was kind enough to link the original page of the 1992, 39th edition "Threads" magazine in which the pattern is written out. I don't know how to interpret it.

I get an urge to knit because of all this but I reckon it's not wise to pick up knitting as a hobby, for a guy.

Thanks for posting anon. knitting seems to use its own coded language, I agree.
>I reckon it's not wise to pick up knitting as a hobby, for a guy.
If you're single, I agree. Luckily I'm married so I don't care. It's just another DIY skill to me. My wife wants to learn but she hates YouTube so wants someone to teach her. I'll learn from the Internet and then teach her.

I might have to sign up for this site so I can see other people's masks...

>> No.17370344

>>17370306
OP mask is better because the point is narrower so it doesn't just sit on top of the head like a cone.

>> No.17371082

>>17370344
I think it depends on how it was made also, and if you understand the knitting pattern, I'm sure you could change it to your desire.

>> No.17371086

>>17370342
Lucky, I hope your wife takes up this hobby, I love these kind of skills cause they give a sense of independence and an outlet for creativity. But again, the stigma it has for guys is unfortunate.
Good luck with the teaching.

And I hope more anons here have the guts to try making this hat and share results.

Thanks anon, I will be back next year to post results.

I like to learn a new skill periodically, just for the sake of it. Last year a sewed juggling balls and learned to juggle.

Fun. I might try making something similar to OP but with crochet, I have little experience with that. Once made replacement headphone cushions and it was simple enough to adjust an existing pattern. Though guys at work did give me shit for doing a "woman hobby". Bunch of idiots there do nothing but waste their lives on liquor and TV shows so I don't care anymore.

>> No.17371974

>>17371935
Yeh I reckon the mask would look good crocheted too desu, go for it.

Crocheted headphone cushions sound comfy af. You often find people give you flak for doing something different. "why don't you just by new ones, it'd be way easier". They just don't get it...

what kind of retard can look at the nice examples anons spent their time finding FOR YOU and still says that's almost it, it's not good enough, OP image is better, no it's not retard it's the exact same fucking pattern you can tell by the ribbed knit on the neck ad the seam that attaches the cone hat to the main body. absolutely worthless scum.
