You're not going to find any good quality dress watches from Seiko under these prices. If you buy from Amazon or another grey market you can shave the price down to about 300 dollars but otherwise most seikos in the 150 dollar range will be casual or sport watches.

You might consider a Seiko Recraft as they're pretty cheap and unique looking which IMO allows them to cross the barrier from casual to dress watch

Otherwise your best bet is a diver-type watch but the white dials are slim pickings

Just ordered this, how did I do?

>> No.17337923

I bought a g-shock 5610 about a year ago. I got a negative display one because I felt the normal 5610 was too colorful.
I like the negative display version, I think it looks better than the positive one, but it is harder to read.

so I was thinking of getting a gw-5000u-1jf since it's more muted than the normal 5610 positive version, and it fixes my problem with reading the screen of my 5610

I feel it's warranted to get it since I wear my 5610 so much (like 5 or 6 days a week) I just feel it would be like getting the same watch twice, and it would be a slippery slope for me--besides the g-shock I only own a seiko diver and a citizen automatic. I don't want to get another until I can comfortably get a $10k watch (if ever)

The 5000u-1jf is THE best square gshock
The U upgrades fixes everything that people complained about with the 5610/5000 module
It uses softer more comfortable premium feeling resin for the bezel and strap. It is a bit weighty compared to the plastic cased models which will be surprising at first but its not heavy compared to standard steel watches and you will get use to it quickly

They’re usually fixer uppers. Some guys enjoy that. They like renovating old Victorian houses, or restomoding old Jaguars or Porsches. Some guys look down their noses at stuff like that and will say that unless you’re buying new with box and tags than you’re a coper/larper/poorfag. But some guys just enjoy finding a diamond in the rough, getting it a little tlc and restoring it to former glory, even if they do have more money to spend.
This place is full of mental patients who will call you a poor fag if you buy a new Speedmaster so it has very little to do with 99.99% of humanity.

This is the only Casio analogue dial I would get.
I'm not looking to buy another watch currently.
If I was this would be very high on the list.
Bang for buck, this is an awesome watch.
Sapphire and titanium, for less than $200.
Plus it's solar with multi-band 6.
I want to get one just because it's so insanely good for the price.

All of my F-91W's have after market straps or bracelets.
The only thing I don't like about them is the strap.
Not because it's uncomfortable, so much as they just don't conform to my wrist as well as a NATO.
I've used this method and I like it.
I ended up putting a NATO on it, though the "soft boiled" method does work.

To clarify:
the only thing I don't like about the stock F-91W is that the stock straps don't conform to my wrists.
Hence why I generally put NATOs on them.
The "soft boiled" method was great and I sort of regret not keeping the boiled stock straps.
They did conform very well to my wrists.
But I got adapters and now that F-91W has an extra soft cozy NATO on it.

have a browse through Casio's japanese website and then compare with the European or American one, it's insane how many interesting models are exclusive to Japan. it's especially noticeable with the Oceanus and BabyG/MsG lines.
speaking of BabyG, I hate the name still. I wouldn't wanna wear anything that has the word "baby" on it. Just look at this (japan exclusive) BGA-2900. Probably the cleanest, least toy-like case/bezel design I've seen on a gshock, it's solar and atomic, has the gshock durability but a 39mm case and merely 12mm thickness. But not only the Japan exclusivity is a crime, I also simply don't want it with Baby written on it.
Why not Mini-G, or Micro-G. Hell, even G-MS would be alright since most people would just see it as some sort of technical designation and not a shorthand for "miss". honestly I'd prefer all these three even to the regular G-SHOCK, which again sounds a bit like some sort of nerf gun name

Asians are bug people and so respect only what else they're supposed to like.

So if they encounter a Rolex, they never ask "do I like this watch? Do I like how it looks? The design? The quality of the build? The finishing?" Instead it's "this is a thing I'm supposed to like therefore yes I like it". There can't be independent thought or dissent and so they'll never have a contrarian opinion
