Now, are designers and niche all that different anyway? I've only tried a couple Imaginary Authors and some local (Brazilian) niche houses (plus some random frags like Neroli Portofino) and the only fragrance marketed as niche that I've really enjoyed was AdP Colonia Essenza. I might still have to try some of the more different stuff but I feel like the "blending and quality of ingredients" thing might be a bit overstated and the primary driving factor differentiating designer from niche would be the mass appeal of the former, for the most part. But of course even that would change with time within the designer realm, considering how frags like Polo Green and Kouros smell dated or outrightly bad for a lot of younger people.

Personally, I don't actually care, as long as it smells good, has good performance and I can justify the price. The last one is where a lot of the way overpriced niche stuff fails. I can sample indie stuff for less and then get a full bottle if I want, above that there is a real shitload of niche, and then comes the overpriced and overhyped stuff. I wouldn't touch a Roja bottle because there is just so much stuff I want to try first.

Pulled the trigger on the full bottle of MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver. I expect great stuff from Kurkdjian at Dior.

The issue for me is that for shit like wood resins or animal musk, you almost never encounter it in it's natural form. I guess that's why it's popular but it's hard to have any sort of visceral connection to it when your only reference is other fragrances.

They are better than modern formulas, but they are also very expensive, and its a lot of work to find them, make sure your aren't buying fakes etc. Once you get into 60s and earlier vintages collecting vintage is a separate hobby from buying and enjoying smelly water. If you cant afford to drop $400+ on a 15ml bottle of extrait don't even bother.

My preferences would be BdC Eau de Parfum and the AHS Eau Extreme. This should cover the 3 basic confidence focus energy clean fresh-types of fragrances. Not even close, it's more of a gourmand fragrance to me, cinnamon with vanilla and hints of cypress. It is unlike any other fragrance I know and you can easily go and try it at your local L'Occitane (they're everywhere now).
The comparison to Tobacco Vanille (/effay/ ca. 2013) are not apt at all.
If you like cardamom/vanilla/tonka this might be a blind buy, even though they're now 75ml for the same price.

That being said Encre Noire is also a whole different scent to me than Encre Noire Sport, not as annoying, much heavier and actually fitting its name.

Ok. so just a general question . Last week I picked up a bottle of Tobacco Vanilla from a department store. I opened it up today and seems like there was a minor leakage.

Shall I return/claim it?

Also the atomizer does not fit in snug on that 100 ml - there is a slight gap. do you think it's okay or is my batch in general faulty?
