I hate Ikea so much it's unreal. If you're going to go Scandi at least have the dignity to buy upscale items that will last some time and not the absolute cheapest dogshit you can find.
> b-b-but it's good design at a decent price point!
It's well-designed garbage and it'll look like well-designed garbage in 3 years when it falls apart while looking like every other apartment of a 20-something in the western world.

It's fine to keep a small reserve (No more than 15-20 percent of collection) of unread books of interest, but if you don't actively read and you get asked about the books (Because let's be honest, you're on /fa/ asking about how to style your room with literature, it's majorly superficial) you don't want to fuck up by having this nice library and if someone asks about it, you have nothing to say other than "I've been meaning to read this and this" and it be more than half your collection.

what would you call this kind of aesthetic. form-pressed primary-colored sheet metal... white bakelite... and more importantly, what's a way to recreate this feel inside a rented apartment?

i mean, it's all about huge exterior structures, my indoors would be the opposite of that, a small fixed-size room that i can only change the appearance of by cluttering it up

It must be hard to do in an apartment, I think the best you can do is to use large pieces of furniture with multiple functions and have them fit together tightly.

I have no idea where you'd get furniture that looks like that, especially with the angles. Square stuff in white is easy though.

Yes. I think you could get that feeling with a large wall unit for storage for the bulk of the actual furniture, and tightly packed multifunctional furniture next to it. I tried to draw it but gave up halfway.

If I were going to do it I'd get that large storage unit and have a desk right next to it, with a hutch or storage unit right above it. On the other side of the storage unit I might put another drawer unit or something with more storage. A few details would make it look a lot better. Personally I'd have my vintage stereo equipment in one of the storage units, and I'd choose furniture that would allow them to fit in pretty snugly. And going for equipment that has more of a futuristic design to it would obviously help.

a TV that fits into a square space snugly, maybe a telephone with a built in answering machine since those are bigger and often have a design that fits in to all this.

Maybe even one of those under-shelf Spacesaver radios they used to make. that would add to the utilitarian look of the room.
