Good for city walks, very good aesthetics and shape (for men taller ones are the best) can be pulled off with basically every style, versatile and relatively durable.

But art hoes and their SIMPs as well as normies seem to like them so /fa/ hates them.

solovair were the original manufacturer of dm's so it's always better to go with them, doc martens was just a brand name back in the day they didn't actually manufacture boots.

I like them. The low tops. Was never fan of the high tops though.

Would never buy them for full price though. Only if I see them on sale for 50% off or cheap 2nd hand barely used

Might try solovair one day but my current made in Asia docs are still going good. Don't know what ppl are crapping on the "quality" for though. Besides shape (I felt my old MiE ones were less boxy?) They seem like they scratch up the sameish and the soles wear down the same.

>> No.17214783

I have never known someone who owned docs and didn't complain about how uncomfortable, expensive or poor quality they are. /fa/ seems to like solovairs more but I wonder if they're even so different.

>> No.17214794

>>17214783
Lot of people I know swear by docs.
That being said, Solovair is spouted by people because NPS originally manufactured Docs. The quality of solovair is really nothing to write home about, and they're well known for using corrected grain plastic topped leather. Users here will spout on about how high quality they are but most of them have never even worn a pair. You can find far and away better shoes at the $200 price point. if you buy seconds or slightly used boots, you could easily get a good pair of made in USA/UK boots.

They were worn by male dominated subcultures for a long time before any of that shit, punks, skinheads etc. I don't get the logic of not wearing something just because some group wears them, it reeks of insecurity.

Spending $200-400 for actual boots is fine. I have two pairs of red wings and a pair of cowboy boots. Spending $100 for absolute garbage because there is a visable logo is retarded. Docs are just shitty and I have had a pair before. They suck ass.

>> No.17214890

Money doesn't buy style, you can get decent clothing for very little if you know where to look and what to look for, spending thousands on some expensive clothes doesn't automatically mean you will have style. It's learned.

Quality and value wise, that'll depend.

I bought my first pair (the oxfords) a year ago for work. I'm on my feet a lot, but I am sr management so I can't really wear sneakers. These were reccommended to me as a durable leather shoe option for people who walk a lot. There is a ridiculous break-in period. I almost sold them, it took nearly two months to get comfortable in them. If I had known I wouldn't have bothered. But I stuck it out and now they're honestly quite comfy.
