Long long time ali platinum/diamond member. Mostly things you order arrive, unless they obviously look imaginary. They are pretty decent on returns BUT the seller can cheat you out several ways, asking you to accept returns etc.

Chinese clothings measure smaller, so use actual measurements, not letter scale. An L in Europe is XL or XXL in china.

The quality is what you pay for, mostly. If you buy a jacket for 5 dollars, it's got bad hems and cheap quality. If you pay the price of what you think a discount price for the jacket you are looking for could be, the quality is usually good.

Always ALWAYS check the seller and product for comments and that they have a lot of sales. Unless you feel lucky. Scammers keep opening new stores after bunked sales.

If it looks too good, it might be (but might also be a steal!) Never trust the discount amounts, they are fantasy numbers they change on a whim. Only the price matters.

Welcome to the fold, the purchase protection is pretty much ebay tier because jack ma doesnt want to lose credibility. Good luck and happy hunting.

Make sure you get some test ride time in before deciding. That saddle may not be super comfortable. Also you might need more top speed than you realize; I know around here a lot of "40 mph" roads can have traffic running at least 55, and you'd have to be running the CT flat out to make that.

Wouldn't an e-bike make more sense to avoid insurance, license, etc?

>> No.17209190

>>17209159
If you have to go on mid-sized avenues on your commute, most affordable e-bikes won't have the top speed to keep up with traffic, which means you'll be in pretty serious danger trying to take those roads.

That's not why I picked up a motorcycle over an e-bike tho. I just want something faster + more capable of taking trips outside the city (in terms of speed + range), and also motos are more fun for me.

Now what might be a fun build idea is taking an existing, cheap rolling-frame of a motorbike and sticking a AliExpress hub motor + big battery on it to make a e-moto. The DMV will have a hell of a time classifying that.

>> No.17209461

>If you have to go on mid-sized avenues on your commute, most affordable e-bikes won't have the top speed to keep up with traffic, which means you'll be in pretty serious danger trying to take those roads.
I guess it depends on the city. I'm in nyc and I see fixed gears passing traffic, so I assumed e-bikes would more than fine. Also there are a lot of e-bikes that can be 'unlocked' right?
I guess at the end of the day it's only illegal if you get caught.

>> No.17209490

>>17209461
Yeah I guess NYC might be different since (at least in Manhattan) it seems most of the road grid is the same 'size' and mostly the same (low) speed, so even pedal bikes wouldn't have much trouble keeping up with traffic (even discounting gridlock).

I was thinking of somewhere more like where I live (DC), where you *can* get where you're going on 25mph roads... but in a lot of home-work location combinations, the most optimal route would be on some of the smaller arterials limited to 30-35, which usually means traffic 40+, which gets quite dicey for most e-bikes.

If you go much further down the list of biggest (American) cities, it becomes even more dicey since most places sprawl, have bigger and bigger arterials, and less and less ability to get to work on time with them.

Some bikes you can unlock to go faster, but the motor will still have a mechanical top speed it can reach, and it might run into heating issues before that.

It seems 'neatrul' enough to go with black loose pants ala the style of the Carhartt WIP cargo.

I would say it kind of "ruins" the immersion of the Hamcus piece but seems like a nice entry piece if you plan on buying more Hamcus or Hamcus-style clothing. I'd go for it.

Where are you finding Hamcus btw? I can only see a few pieces on Grailed and Yjp.

Just as difficult finding Balmung/Chloma piecies.

I rode around on a Zoomer for a few years, it was the best, fuel injection, liquid cooling, no seperate starter motor. But eventually it had so many issues, everything is handled by the onboard computer, so fixing it is not easy. The biggest problem I had was starting in the rain, sometimes if there was too much moisture in the air, it simply wouldn't run. Sometimes if it did ran in the rain, it would stall when idling, that's the worst.

But I rode 30k kilometers with it so I'm happy overall. The interest you get from people makes it all good.

By 'custom rear cluster', do you mean you're going to add something in the place of the cutoff fender?

Hadn't heard of these guys. Neat overalls but I wouldn't consider them great for abrasion protection, they seem to be relying on whatever spine protector you might have to provide all the slide protection to your back (there's no kevlar there).

I don't have much in the way of alternatives to offer tho. I also wanted some overalls but ended up getting turned off by Motoport and Aerostitch-level prices for full lining and went more conventional.

the Del Rosario suit is more for trying to convince squids to use SOME protection than a proper protective suit in its own right. they sell a Class 2 back protector that will fit into it.
their main business is actually the gloves.
dunno if they're still in business or not though, they've been silent for 2 years.

Aerostitch do be pricey but they're kind of meant to be the all-weather touring equivilant to full race leathers. there is a healthy used market for them tho.

I mean, if you get every specific item from a given image it would be easy to end up looking fashion victimy. But if you make up the bulk of the look with more 'normal' items that hit some of the points of the high-fashion items, and then finish it off with a full-bore accent like the fuzzhat of >>17235114, it's pretty easy to make it look natural and daring at the same time.

I think you're overthinking this a lot. You don't have to literally get every piece from a grid and go from the way you regularly dress to a style like this. You can add bits and pieces here and there into your regular wardrobe over time and slowly figure out what works for you and what doesn't just like anything else
