> We therefore advocate a revolution against the masstige system. This revolution may or may not make use of Bois Imperial; it may be sudden or it may be a relatively gradual process spanning a few decades. We can’t predict any of that. But we do outline in a very general way the measures that those who hate the masstige system should take in order to prepare the way for a revolution against that form of fragrance enjoyment. This is not to be a SEXUAL revolution. Its object will be to overthrow fragcom but the influencers and marketing basis of the present society.

That doesn’t make any sense. People like BI because it’s cheap, interesting but also innocuous. That’s it, it’s not a conspiracy theory.

My free Armani Code Parfum sample has arrived.
It's everything I expected it to be:
The opening is straight up copied from Prada L'Homme Intense. It's that sweet iris mix they put in there, but even sweeter. Fades quickly, though.
Afterwards, the drydown reminds of the original Armani Code, but in a soapier way.
And that's it. Zero originality. Past the opening it's just a soapier Armani Code. I only wore this for like an hour, I gotta say, because I then took a shower, but considering the base notes are "tonka bean and cedar" I don't expect anything new or exciting for the late drydown.

I'll give this sample to a friend of mine who enjoys OG Code (and has enjoyed it for over a decade). Maybe he gets some use out of it and wants to buy something new.

Have only tried the three XXX fragrances.
Charcoal: ground rocks, charcoal, metal, black pepper, incense. Another way to describe it would be that it smells like an art studio full of supplies.
Tried it once, then bought a full bottle.

I found it very bland and forgettable.

Verdigris: metal, dryer sheets, damp grass, and vitamins.
A weird smell.

Received some samples, I don't know much about notes and frag structures so I'll just share my first impressions:

>Virgin Island Water
As great as I remember it to be. Very sweet but not overpoweringly so, somehow. The coconut is the main note here but there's nothing sunscreen-ish or artificial about it, then there's some kind of sugary boozy note (rum) and fruits. Overall it's like an expensive cocktail made into a frag, and it really is one of those scents that evokes a particular landscape or image, in this case a tropical beach with a very luxurious twist. Carefree and classy at the same time, the perfect summer scent. It's complex enough that I could see myself wearing VIW during more formal occasions requiring an elegant attire, but not outside of the hotter, sunnier months. It really brings a tropical vibe with it, which would really radiate beautifully if you're wearing a linen shirt in July but less so with a wool coat in November.

>Aventus
I hadn't smelled it before and now I get the hype. Like everyone else I was perplexed because of the pineapple note listed, but when I smelled it I understood. Somehow the pineapple is seamlessly blended into this overall very masculine and fresh (in the same way GIT is fresh; not aquatic at all) scent DNA and doesn't come off as jarring at all, it's very natural. "Masculine" is the first thing I thought of when smelling Aventus. It's not that it's unoriginal, but it's a very archetypal scent, it strikes me as the quintessential manly frag for all occasions, it comes off as purposefully made to be extremely appealing and very masculine. I like it a lot, but I wouldn't buy a full bottle because it's just a tad too obnoxious in my opinion. It's the kind of thing I'd wear to a party or a club even though I don't really like the "clubbing frag" category (and Aventus definitely has nothing in common with the likes of Eros)

Cont.

>> No.17183898

>>17183896
>Ganymede
Second Bisch frag I tried, the first one being Kenzo Homme EDP. They're a bit similar, but Kenzo is much more one-dimensional and unrefined. Ganymede is a kind of mineral and aromatic frag that feels marine but doesn't have horribly synthetic "aquatic/ozonic" notes. It reminds me of the Mediterranean seaside where the scent of the sea blends with the smells from the surrounding trees and vegetation.
It's surprisingly sweet and I was expecting something much darker considering the mineral notes. It's quite masculine but not a caricature of manliness like Aventus is. Ganymede is attractive but subtle and interesting. I feel like Bisch is going for a "unconventional but somehow still mass pleasing" vibe, which Ganymede fits to a T. I'd definitely wear it, to me it's signature scent material, but I'm waiting to try BI before buying a bottle.

>Encelade
The most interesting one and also the only one I wouldn't wear. It's definitely unisex and quite sweet, there's something in there, some kind of spice maybe, that gives me a distinctly feminine and somewhat "sexy" impression but a man could wear it too. It's a thick and complex kind of scent, it smells expensive and refined and I can't really think of any occasion during which I'd want to wear Encelade. Unconventional and not unpleasant, but hard to pin down. A high class prostitute of either sex could probably wear Encelade, but it's too sweet to me and there's a note in its composition that would bother me if I smelled it on me. Something a bit waxy for lack of a better term.

>B683
It's okay. Has something in it that's similar to Ganymede in terms of being fresh and a bit mineralic, but B683 is also spicy and seems a bit lighter or more airy. So far I'm finding it a bit generic and not very interesting, but I'll have to try it for a full day to make any conclusions.

I'm eagerly awaiting the Essential Parfums sample set to arrive now.

>In the early morning hours of September 19, 1961, Betty and Barney Hill were traveling a deserted New Hampshire highway, when an event occurred that would forever change the course of their lives. BETTY HILL: It was a beautiful night. The moon was very bright, and we were both wearing Bois Imperial, and the radio was playing, when I saw the strange light in the sky. It came out over the highway and stopped directly in front of us. JOE MORTON: What Betty thought she saw was a flying saucer. BETTY HILL: And at this point, Barney got out with the binoculars in an attempt to identify the craft. And as he looked up, he could see a row of men standing in the windows, looking down at him. The craft began to descend, and he had the feeling they were trying to abduct our travel supply of Bois Imperial. At first, Betty and Barney Hill recalled only shadowy fragments of what happened that night. But much later, under hypnosis, their memories came into sharper focus.

So either wear what you like, or if you don't know what you like, go with something safe but not too popular so that you don't run as much of a risk of her associating the smell with a potential ex boyfriend. Maybe try Margiela Jazz Club, a lot of women seem to like this one.

Do anons here have issues with dupes, clones, etc.?
The number of people I've seen bitching online about it astonished me.
I get it if the issue is that the knockoff smells like shit, but it comes off as hatred of the poor.

>> No.17184726

>>17184703
It's a complicated subject, first of all a lot of clone brands are scammers and they are selling garbage and getting people to shill it as "90% the same" when it's not even close. A lot of the clone brands are also way too fucking expensive. Those pineapple vintage fags selling 47 slightly different aventus clones for $100 for 50ml is a joke. A lot of these clone companies are sketchy as hell and run by really shady people with shady pasts.
Also if everyone buys clones and the original companies don't make any money they won't be coming out with new frags and the whole market suffers.
On the other hand you occasionally get clones that are not only cheap but also better than the current actual release with some of these designer frags that have been around for years. They have been reformulated into weak piss water and if a clone comes along that smells like the original did 10 years ago then why would you buy the original?
But even if some people come off elitist about it there is more to it than just saying fuck poor people. There are plenty of cheap designer frags out there that smell great and aren't expensive, it's not like anyone is stuck choosing between clones and not wearing frags at all. Nobody needs a clone of PDM (and they shouldn't be wearing PDM either shit sucks)

most recently got jean patou ma liberte, made by jean kerleo who did the rest of patou's stuff like pour homme/privee so it has similarities. it's mostly a spicy sandalwood/cedar scent, plus powder and rose to push it a bit more towards feminine, without the rose I'd have thought it was aimed at men. lasts like 16 hours on me and I suspect it might use real sandalwood.

krizia had some nice ones in the 80s like krazy and teatro alla scala. both used civet well. krazy is similar to obsession and teatro to chypre palatin

vintage opium kinda smells like aramis jhl and has castoreum.

actually aramis is an interesting thing to explore because they were made as masculine equivalents to estee lauder perfumes. jhl itself was the masculine counterpart to estee lauder cinnabar, and cinnabar is similar to opium. youth dew is also similar but less spicy. aramis aramis is the counterpart of estee lauder azuree, also good. previously mentioned jean kerleo did knowing for estee lauder.

EDP is a richer, smokier, less sweet take on the same idea as the EDT, but it's more of a pure fall/winter frag and not that pleasant to wear in warm weather. EDT is wearable in all but truly hot weather, but it's sweeter and not as mature as the EDP. Also, the EDP lasts at least 2 hours longer.

Probably the default showergel scent by now, smelled it more often than Cool Water-type frags when using store brand showergels. And it's exactly that. Nice green-ish showergel fougere. Still uses real oakmoss, although that doesn't mean much. It's cheap and I spray plenty, that way I get some good performance out of it.
Not a revelation in any way, but certainly a classic. Best to just test it at any drugstore.

Alright, just received my BI sample and tried it ten minutes ago.
I'm pleasantly surprised as I was expecting it to be mediocre and forgettable. It's a very clean and fresh scent with a woody backbone but that also feels quite herbal to me, probably because of the basil. It's masculine, but airy and understated enough that nobody will ever find it obnoxious. I'm not sure if this kind of scent is a "compliment getter", honestly it doesn't strike me as the kind of thing girls like, but who knows. It smells good, definitely not a hugely complex and interesting niche scent if that's what you're expecting, but it's original and simple. Not as good as the memes make it seem, obviously, but I was expecting something way more mediocre. This is actually good.
Can anyone comment on the longevity? I'm about to pull the trigger in a full bottle, but I'm hoping for good longevity and projection.
