/btg/ BOOT GENERAL - ALL LEATHER NO FILLER EDITION

What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

rewatched that vid and it's so pointless and stupid
do you really need to prove to the world your boots are better made than thursdays?
what is the point in you rebuilding a goodyear welted boot if you can't even do it, because you only ever do stitchdown?
you changed everything besides the original shaft and counter leather to make it happen
what is the point in rebuilding a dressier boot if you only ever do chunky work boots?
you completely changed the silhouette of the shoe, because you only do fat clown shoe lasts with double row stitching and didn't even bother with the broguing and painted patina on the toe cap
little attempt to make it look like the original and just trying to dunk on cheap ass thursdays

BUUUUT, fuck if everything they've done marketing wise doesn't annoy the shit out of me. I get that they have a certain "DNA" that they got to maintain in their designs, but it's all the same boots. Plus, they're now pushing cheap constructions (one piece rubber sole) with the same fucking price as their full leather model.
Even whites got a bunch of different boot, and looky here, they priced their cheaper made boots at a cheaper price. WHAT A FUCKING CONCEPT.

Guys look at the stitching on the welt
I know it's not a boot but I wanted to show you

These are the shoes that my dog stepped on the first time I wore them, this is the before pic (other shoe looked worse with three large scratches on the vamp)
I did the full saphir run (Renovateur + polish + wax) and the scuffs were already gone by the first step. I can't show you the after because the shine reflects my face but there's no hint of any scratches afterwards.
Used Havana color and it matched, I think Havana is closer to most dark brown shoes than the actual "dark brown" Saphir color.

Do raised heels really affect posture or is it bs

>> No.17123260

>>17123243
YES. It tilts hips forward and artificially extends the knee when you squat. It makes it more comfy, but it's because your hips are tilted, not because you are more flexible. Also they make your butt look big (remember women wear heels for a reason) by the same mechanics. They also cause more corns and bunions because lots of the weight is pushed to the forefoot. It locks your foot in place, but it will unevenly distribute the pressure even when you are just standing.

made by russell moccasin in Berlin Wisconsin.. Moccasin construction, leather wraps all the way under the foot. Largely hand made, all high quality leather, you can get them made custom but they also sell regular runs of standard sizes. They have lots of different models. Forget what those are called but I got them off the sales list. You can go on their website and there is a sizing tutorial.. You trace your feet and take measurements and you can send them in. They will call you and tell you your exact size.. I was like 8.5C, ball to EE.. so i have a generally narrow foot but the ball splays out a lot.. Always have trouble getting shoes that account for that. Got a good discount on these because they were returned, but they were the exact size i needed.

Anyone have experience with Frye boot sizing? There's a pair on sale, but it's an 8. I'd normally wear 9/9.5 in sneakers, but boots are all over the place depending on the brand. Usually anywhere from 8.5-9.5.

I can't return em if they're too small since it's a final sale.

Funny to see my worlds colliding here.
I have a pair of nick's, I'm a red carded EMT, but wasn't able to get out to fire season. These boots are good but I would find it a bit funny to see one on the street, I don't think they're particularly aesthetically pleasing and they're very heavy to walk in compared to normal footwear.

I mean a big reason why WFFs have them is tradition, and when we're in the mountains we're not moving fast, we want stability and be able to resole our shoes after soot and embers melt and wear them down.

I do think they aren't the best looking though lol.

Whites was bought by the Japanese who are obsessed with heritage boots and denim and all that stuff. And the parent company (can't remember their name off the top of my head) is completely hands off of Whites to let them do their thing. Basically Whites just has a parent company with money to throw at them if they ever need it
This means Whites never has to sell out and cheap on anything and doesn't have to worry about fickle market trends. It can just keep being Whites forever and if it ever needs money when the market is slow their corporate parent just bails them out
There is no downside to this. All Whites needs to be is just cater to their Japanese customers which they already did anyway

Dogshit brand anyway. They refused to sell their 1000 mile boots in Cranes when they first came out despite Cranes being a 100 year old company that sold the fucking original workboots because Cranes was seen as too "blue collar" and they wanted the 1000m to be more "upscale."

FUCK THEM. Working men like to look good too sometimes, you know? Especially with a boot that can supposedly still hold up to some lightweight abuse.

I used to work at a place where we sold Carhartt, and they did a very, very similar thing that pissed me off to NO END.

It was around the time Carhartt started switching to overseas production and expanded their product line. Dude I worked for was old and diabetic. He wrote all of his advert signs meticulously by hand. Sold Carhartt cheaper than anyone within 200 miles to working men. I asked why Carhartt wouldn't give us some other products or signage or allow us to advertise with their logo since everyone comes though word of mouth. He says the rep won't let him. OK, so I call the rep and explain why this mom&pop can sell CH but not advertise it, and he says its because he uses hand-made signs and price tags which isn't CH's "style" for the brand.

Sold every piece of CH I owned that month and never looked back and always recommended other items from then on.

FUCK sellouts.
