they literally do. To have quality steel toed boots, lumberjacks, lineman, and other jobs in the blue collar field routinely spend $500 or so on boots and then send them in to get repaired every year or so from wear and tear

>> No.17088940

>>17085797
Yeah I worked on a farm for like 15 yrs and then did construction for 5. By association, I knew a lot of other blue collar workers. No one dresses like this whatsoever. Anyone who has done any type of labor like that knows it will get dirty within 5 minutes and its probably not comfortable at all. A carhartt jacket is about the most I've seen people wear and even then most only wear that shit when arriving to work. Too much money for a jacket just to spill oil and paint all over.

This anon gets it. Beyond your tools and what not, your boots will be the most expensive thing you buy. You are literally wearing them 8+ hours a day so not spending at least $200 is a waste of money. Steel toed and water proof is a must obviously.

I work for an electric utility (in Canada). Lineman where I am get a $300 Canadian dollars per year boot allowance which is $232 USD. No one’s buying $500 boots and getting them repaired. They get the cheaper boots and throw them away when they wear out because they can new boots every year. Expensive boots like Red Wings are uncomfortable until you work them in. Fuck that.
