Going back to a comment on the previous thread, this is worth it. One of the best blind buys I’ve had

It’s a spicier, deeper, bluer version of Le Male. Sweeter, but not cloying like Joop, Invictus or Le Male itself. Beast mode projection.

Save money. Buy this instead of Sauvage.

I've been deep into this hobby for about two years and have built a collection of 40+ bottles. I like to wear a variety of scents, so my goal has never been to find a "signature scent." Favs include Chanel Antaeus, Le 3e Homme de Caron, CdG Incense series, TF Beau de Jour, etc but bottom line is I like to switch it up constantly.
Then I got a bottle of Guerlain Jicky EDP a month ago and I haven't wanted to wear anything else. It literally smells so good to me that I want to smell it/smell like it all the time, and I'm about to order a backup bottle. So I guess this is my "signature" now?
Has this happened to anyone else?

>> No.17051670

Got my ELDO and MFK sample sets in. Why does ELDO put rose in pretty much every scent? I'm so sick of rose, i guess this is how some people feel about iris, but I like iris. Alot of the scents were interesting but not something i'd wear. Of course with the MFK set I fell in love with BR 540 Extrait. The "cologne forte" scents included all sucked and ended up smelling like cilantro. Oud Satin Mood Extrait is pretty good. Gentle Fluidity Silver is okay but not a killer. Gonna grab a sample set of Grand Soir, Amyris Homme and Extrait, and Petit Matin next. Any other sample sets I should try? Imaginary Authors is on the list for sure.

I'd say Guerlain is probably my favorite maker overall but I haven't yet found something that I'd consider a signature scent. You can wear whatever you like whenever you like, it's just that some notes can be stifling in the heat, such as a cinnamony sweetness, whereas those same notes might be welcome as warming in the cold. And in high heat people generally don't want their senses overwhelmed, so lower concentrations are regularly used, but you can also just spray less.

Scent molecules do project and develop differently based on temperature and your body chemistry that goes along with that, so you may find some fragrances smell or perform particularly well in different seasons, but that's mostly again preference.

That all said, Encre Noire is very green with its dominant cypress, which makes it fresh enough for summer to me regardless.

Yeah Shalimar is great and comfortably unisex. Of the other early women's Guerlains, Jicky is by far the most masculine to my nose. It's basically a fougere that's been orientalized with vanilla. I never feel remotely in drag wearing it.
Some people say Mitsouko is also unisex, which I'm not sure I agree with. The fruity and floral notes in it are pretty feminine to me, but the dark mossy base is balances those out really well. At any rate it's beautiful and definitely worth sampling

I don't like vanilla and tonka much. Sometimes they are only used to create a certain sweetness, but in the Guerlains I've tried, they were more of the gourmandy type.

Any great Guerlains to try that don't feature a vanilla/tonka base, or at least aren't pronounced in that? Will definitely try Vetiver, although I've already got Vetiver frags I like well enough.

To whatever anon posted this frag like a month ago I want to sincerely thank you. I have gone through 60+ samples and only found say 3-4 frags I feel I would actually purchase and wear frequently. This is my favorite, it seems to be perfect for all occasions and all seasons, baring winter perhaps. Really suits me overall, and think it smells fucking great. A crowd pleaser but still quite unique. Really well blended and lasts a good amount of time too. Doesn't project too much but I tend to prefer skin scents. It has sort of a marine smell to it, but smells nothing like a "blue" frag. Again, tremendous for most all occasions, including everyday wear at the office. The only time I wouldn't wear it is on a date, but if you had nothing else you could certainly get away with it. Defiantly my signature scent.

I went by sampling a lot of fragrances in an airport store recently (I'm generally a newbie to fragrances, own Dior Homme 2020 which I like). I sampled most of the "staple" basic male frags that are in stores, was interested by some of the more esoteric smells but didn't find anything particularly mindblowing.

Then, out of curiosity, I tried Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb (I believe it was Intense?), and it brought upon me emotions that I hadn't felt for years. I even felt aroused. Obviously it is a very feminine (perhaps even girly) fragrance, and that's part of why I felt so overjoyed by it. I could never wear that myself. But I wondered if there's anything like that, just more subtle or obscure, for the male market. Any ideas, or am I just a misguided newbie enchanted by the scent of a woman?

honestly I don't remember what flowerbomb smells like, but there are some more masculine floral scents out there (lots of popular iris frags especially, which can smell like lipstick to some, try Dior Homme Intense if you want some of that)
Black Orchid by Tom Ford might give you a similar feeling of wearing a powerful, sweet and floral women's fragrance, but is much easier to pull off by a guy because of its darker, bolder nature that goes more oriental and gourmand. same goes for Shalimar EDP, though some people may associate that one with their grandma (it's really amazing though and I think younger people don't really know it nowadays)

Yeah, Bleu Turquoise is somewhat similar and better smelling, but it comes with a price.
Bleu Turquoise is a strange scent, it's kinda cheap, piercing smelling in winter, but in extreme heat it's perfect refreshing, salty, a little creamy due to the vanilla with the OG ADG DNA.
For me it's the better ADG, Profumo is worse than the original ADG.

Tried Cool Water now, it's definitely similar to GIT but I'm getting a citrusy undertone from it for some reason that makes me think of Azzaro Chrome. The fougere (is it fougere?) that makes it so similar to GIT is way stronger though. It's also fairly one-dimensional imo, I'm not getting anything minty or sea water or anything of the sort. It's just very fresh and clean. It doesn't smell cheap at all and actually makes me think of the spa of a luxury hotel I was in a few years ago.

Also it's been about six hours since I sprayed The Dreamer on my arm and I feel like the drydown is a bit generic. Maybe it's because I only used one spray and am not getting much of a scent from it in the first place, but I don't get any tobacco like Jeremy claims. It just smells generic woody/spicy at this point. Is it normal?

Afternoon Swim smells great, but after I wore it out I realized I have no desire to smell like that, or be constantly smelling that throughout the day. Imagination and On the Beach I feel similarly about. I feel like while they are all absolutely unisex scents... I only want to smell them on a woman. Occasionally, a whiff here and there. Those are their top three though and very well done.

L'immensite is delicious in the opening and was going to be my main frag, but after about 2 hours it dries down into something really awful and cheap/mildewey smelling. Tygar is super similar and handles this better, but is overall much less appealing to my nose (leans far more grapefruity). Percival is some sort of weird hybrid that I'm not a fan of at all.

Meteore and Sur La Route are horrendous.

Great bottles and boxes as well, and the people complaining about the prices can shut the fuck up and go be poor somewhere else. But to protect their brand they really should consolidate and also go back to the drawing board on a few others.

>She is recorded saying "Tell the world you're a victim of domestic violence, Johnny, nobody will believe you" and mocking him for being weak
>She claims she used X brand of makeup to cover up her bruises on specific date Y. Brand X then says that the product AH mentioned had not been released at that specific date.
