I'm 24. I want to stop dressing like a kid (hoodies, sweatpants etc) and dress more "mature" while still staying casual (not larpy)
How do I do it? I also want to dress more masculine and avoid the metrosexual reddit mfa aesthetic

I tried wearing just vintage jeans and tucked t shirts but I find it boring, even though i like how it looks. Or adding an oxford shirt over a t shirt with jeans and leaving a few buttons undone with it tucked, and solovairs on foot.
I'm pretty sure I am just going through an identity crisis at this point, I just want a style that looks OK, is at least slightly comfortable and requires me to have an incredibly small wardrobe. It's hard

shockingly good advice, and on /fa/, of all places.

add henleys (if you're muscular) and remove turtlenecks, chukkas and chore coats. nothing in light brown unless you're from the states, where for some reason that's considerable acceptable. you'll also need some coats (start with dark grey, single-breasted, thigh-length) and some hot weather wear. also consider adding a simple, blouson-style jacket. I would restrict leather jackets to cafe racer (moto) style.

Go to a Goodwill and find things you thing make you look your age (you will have to wash the clothing and iron it yourself or take it to a dry cleaners). For slacks and shoes you'll need to buy them at an actual store, Belk is okay.

After you get a good feel of what your style is, THEN go out buy the high quality stuff. Personally, I still shop at Goodwill to see how well the items fit in my wardrobe before I go out and get one tailor made.

You gain literally nothing from dressing "older". You'll just look boring and insipid, like some insecure faggot larping as a le adult. People who hyper-fixate on maturity are always the least mature people. They are slaves to social constructs of maturity and think that wearing certain clothes or discarding their young passions and interests will somehow make them an adult. It's pure miserable insecurity. It's even more ridiculous nowadays, where people just wear what they want and even urbanites don't go around policing people's clothes anymore. You are literally refusing to dress comfortably because some Redditor will sneer and titter at you with his recessed jaw and bug eyes, while he looks ridiculous in his tight pants, city boots, flannel shirt, and numale blazer/chorecoat. >Chad wears loose gym gear 24/7 and the same fit he had when he was a teenager
he doesn't when he is at work or at important social events which are, you know, essential parts of being a functional successful adult. also, given how you put so much emphasis on getting "pussy", he doesn't wear gym clothes when he goes out on dates or when he's at the club or whatever.

In the real world there is actually a distinction between dressing like a manchild who looks like he's given up on life, or as a respectable adult.

You will know when you wear it. I think you chose a leather jacket and it also choses you. Try a bunch of them on when thrifting (too expensive otherwise anyway) and you'll know.

Tip from old fat in 30s
Don't worry about dressing "older"

The "mature" way to dress is a way that suits your lifestyle. Why wear casual blazers and stuff if that's not the type of stuff you or your peers wear?

You know why ppl in vintage pics look so good? It's because they didn't put too much thought into this and just wore what suited their lifestyle at the time and it was literally the meme clothes of the culture of the time.

It has to happen by itself really. You pick up clothes over the years and slowly you start to dress differently and more "grown up". If you change your wardrobe in a month or so you will look like a larper no matter what, and you will probably not even wear most of the clothes because they just look wrong. If there's a dress code at work it's more of a costume when you think about it.
