I binged two weekends in a row and haven't been able to get back into the low calorie routine I kept before then. I worry I've lost a lot of progress. I'm probably low enough that I'm not gaining more, but I'm not recovering from my setback during weekend either.

I am 170cm/62kg (which is not even thinspo) and yesterday was the first day I got transferred to a new department (I am a public administration apprentice). Depends entirely on what kind of exercise you do and how much you do it. i jog regularly and usually power walk a bit most days i'm not, and i count my calories every day along with maintaining a decent diet. i'm actually on the lower end of a healthy BMI but lately i've been thinking that maybe i'm not optimizing my macros enough with a 20p/45c/35f split so i was wondering if i should lower my fat intake and get more carbs and/or proteins. i've tried lowering fats to a daily 10-15% previously but after a month of it brain fog, inability to focus and generally feeling like shit got me so i noped out real quick and upped my intake after that.

What do you get your fat from? I love whole dairy, but still choose reduced-fat options on days where I know I'll be cooking something and using oil or meat fats often becomes a must, or when I won't be exercising. If you really do experience fatigue reducing fats, just test changing your ratios weekly--a decent day of cardio for me is at least a couple hours of cycling, or the six to eight hours of moving around on my feet for work, and if I don't get just a couple hundred calories from sugar in fruit (juices are fine), soda, or energy drinks along the way I get regularly light-headed with spotty vision, especially with frequent squatting and standing up. At times I'd rather work through it but perhaps you know how coworkers, and bosses, who express concern can be and who insist you should eat something. Just keep experimenting, you'll find something sustainable for your routine but you gotta learn your own needs and limits

most of my fat comes from eggs, chicken breast, olive oil, walnuts, almonds and dairy products like whole milk and cheese. i like normal yogurt sometimes but i often opt for 0% fat greek yogurt as a snack as it packs 14g of protein for less than 85 calories and it's filling. i hate fish so even if nice stuff like salmon is full of healthy fats i prefer taking omega-3 supplements.

your job sounds pretty demanding if it's causing you that, but at least it's good exercise. are you on weight loss or maintaining?

If you have enough responsibility running around a restaurant and are pulling 60-hour+ work weeks with calorie restriction you will lose weight, but eventually regaining the appetite to eat more when coworkers, family, fiancé insist you try to avoid seeing the back of your eyelids besides sleep by offering you frequent free meals and drinking nights larger than 500 calories, yeah, you'll gain some weight back. COVID slowed everything down for me last year, so I'm back to cutting and more regular, controlled exercise. It's pretty fucked how much the body can lose cravings for food from just a month of "taking a step back," but here we are again. Only thing I really want is alcohol, that's what addiction does I guess. Your diet sounds clean and very easy to adjust for macros, you'll make it just fine with some patience. Best of luck anon

Most things will seem extreme if you're going for the hardcore surplus, but for that I defer to the dirty-bulking bloatmaxers at /fit/. But for muscle-building in general, not just fat loss, any of the diets I've seen advocate at least a few-hundred calorie surplus through protein. A standard gallon of milk alone is already just over 500 calories from only the protein, that's already 25% on 2,000 calorie plan. Include all the chicken breast, steaks, powders, eggs and other dairy and meat products bulkers recommend, and I'd be surprised to see them get less than 30%. But at only 1,500 calories or less, it's unnecessary, you don't need to get that much.
