I have grown my hair for 14 months now, my hair looks similar to this one. It's dense, thick, wavy (curls from ends) is it normal to have some natural oil in the hair? If I use too much shampoo then my hair flattens and becomes dry. I use a small amount of shampoo every other day. Im planning to grow out my hair for at least another year

Mirin' the hair if it's really similar to one in the pic. Are you using your shampoo on your scalp only? If not then start washing your hair so. Also try going from every other day to every three days if you can. Consider getting sea salt spray for those days after washing when it's flat and dry. You can also use leave-in conditioner for similar results, my favourite is kevin murphy smooth again, but look for something that fits you the best

My hair looked like that 3-4 months ago. I still get those random spikes of hair sticking out because of curving and waving. My hair gets really oily fast and I have to take a shower every day. Well genetics for the curl, otherwise get a perm.

Now, to get it in that shape, just use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Then dry with an old tshirt. Then add an alcohol-free gel to your ends. Do not comb your hair when it is dry, only when it is wet.

Shampoos and conditioners that I recommend are from Sheamoisture. The gel that I use is LA Looks Extreme Sports Gel.

If you got a buzzcut, the hair on the back of your head will look like it's longer than the front, so you might want to even it once it grows out.

Anyone have any experience going from long hair to short hair? I've been growing mine out for over 3 years now, and these past few months I've been thinking about getting it cut short.
I get compliments on my hair often, and I still like it, but I feel as if shorter would work way better. Plus it'd shorten my showers, and I'd stop having to worry about it getting tangled.

The first time I did it because I wanted to see what I would look like with a buzzcut and I realized that if I let my hair grow for more time I would never want to cut it, so I said fuck it. The only piece of advice I can give you is if you do decide to cut it short try many different haircuts that way you have a chance of finding something you really like and if you don't then you can just start growing it out again.

That's called the bob haircut, the one in your picture is particularly jagged, it's usually a lot more cleanly cut. I think it's really hard to pull for men unless you're asian. Go ahead and google "bob haircut men" and see if you find something you like. I found pic related which isn't a typical bob haircut but I think it looks more masculine and is easier to pull off.

how brave are you guys with cutting your own hair? i've got some sort of autism, and even the best cuts bother me in minor ways when i look really closely in the mirror, so when i get home or the next day i'll usually clean up shit in minor ways. like, raising a fade, or tightening an angle, or thinning out bulk.

i can't stand when my hair is unbalanced when not styled. like, i'll brush all my hair down in a bowl cut, and if one side is heavier than the other, i've got to fix it. barbers and stylists are always like "uhh do you wear your hair with it all down like that", and no of course not, but you're just hiding imperfections with product.

Your hair is thin especially on the top. And your hairline is pretty far behind your brow. Some kind of fringe or bangs to add some asymmetry to the forehead would help, your hair might be too thin for full bangs swept from the middle and back to the front, but worth trying out. Another option is short on the sides (shaved or nearly shaved) and some kind pseudo pompadour thing that would bring the hair forward, your face is a bit too soft and round but you can fix that later.

I want some fresh hairstyle, and am growing out the top (got bangs going to the peak of my nose atm) but I always hated side hair getting all messy, so I always ask barber to fade them close to skin. Saw a dude with maybe 2-3ish inches on top, sides were shaved to the skin, and it had what may have been a very slight fade only on the back/occipital bun area. The top was messy and unstyled. The closest I can think is a French crop but with no fading and none of that ethnic perm bullshit.
