Overexposure to porn and internet/social media at a young age really has fucked our brains pretty severely. I also legitimately think a big part of it for white zoomers is just not growing up around other white kids. From my own personal experience both growing up in an immigrant-overrun town and talking to other people my age who grew up in a similar setting, you generally end up being a fucking weirdo as a kid just because you have nobody to relate to, with almost all the other kids around being literal foreigners who barely speak English. I’m technically a zoomer, I guess, though I abstained from social media throughout school because I thought it made me “holier than thou” is some kind of way. Really all it did was alienate me from my peers and gen z pop culture. As far as I can tell zoomer fashion is mostly based on a mix of internet trends (especially from tiktok and other gay e-shit), contemporary artists, mostly boring trap rappers and bedroom pop bullshit, and then some location factors (e.g. is ___ cool in ___ town?). I mostly just wear black levi’s and carhartt shit with surplus boots or vintage docs. I try not to think too hard about it. I guess I’m just a hipster asshole in a different way. zoomers have no generational identity because of the nature of fleeting internet trends, unironically.
