not that anon but putting jeans in the freezer for a lilttle bit kills odors without a wash in case anyone here's actually dumb enough to wear smelly jeans. 100% cotton jeans shouldn't smell in general unless you take a shit in them, its not like the cheap poly/elastine blend shit you're used to wearing.

>> No.15842104

>>15842100
Putting in the freezer doesn't really work. The bacteria generally don't fully die and the smell is back within a few hours. This is from my experience with sneakers when I was 16 .

>> No.15842105

I have a pair I built 13 two story houses in foundation to finish on 1 wash that don't smell a single bit even if you cleanse palate and put your nose right on the inside of the seat.

Just change your underwear more often maybe or turn denim inside out when washing. Or maybe hand / wash denim alone to reduce fabric stress.

This. It always boggled my mind that people were so stingy with washes. As long as you limit the abrasion (wash inside out, don't use in dryer or use on milder setting) the fades will look great.

>> No.15842142

If your jeans have stains wash 'em. If not put them in a plastic bag and throw them in the freezer for a couple of days. The cold kills the bacteria that are causing the smell.

>> No.15842156

>The cold kills the bacteria that are causing the smell.
Just like the bacteria, this myth will not die.
Even if it did kill all the bacteria, the grimy environment they were attracted to is still there. It also hurts the durability of the denim.
Think about it, why do only jeans get blowouts when they earned such a reputation for being sturdy? It's because people don't wash them. Just wash them inside out to avoid stonewashing them, and air dry. It's what some denim brands even put on the tag.

>> No.15842167

sneakers are thicker and conserve the conditions the bacteria need for bare survival better
you can drop them in a freezer for longer and it should do the trick, not sure how long it'd take though.
wear socks and clean your sneakers by hand.

>> No.15842169

I get blowouts on sweatpants all the time. It's common with denim because people wear them tighter in the seat especially on the vertical dimension than other pants. Any other kind of pants typically worn like that will have stretch material in them.
Dunno why gusseted crotches never took off with denim though.

Turning clothing inside out doesn't minimize abrasion. The clothing is just abrading inside out.

All clothing worn with too low a rise and/or two tight will suffer blowouts. Denim is likely more prone to them because the people who get them are wearing the jeans every day. What other garment gets worn every day?

That's the point. You can't fade the white weft of denim, so exposing that side to the washer protects the indigo warp.

Contrary to popular belief on /fa/, black does not go with everything. It goes with very little, and thus, black denim generally looks terrible. And I'm not going to defend my first statement. It should be apparent why denim isn't and cannot be dressy.

>> No.15842263

The indigo dyed warp is still abrading against itself in the wash. You literally cannot save a side of your garment from wash-based fading by turning it inside out.
